Carbon UI Issues Thread

It's now a moot point, Bobby. One of the Dish tech team has been trying to get my H3 to update its software from the last time (April) to the current U313. I shut my machines off all night last night and found that it had finally done the new update. With this new update, so far I've seen this option now working again via the TV ACTIVITY screen.

I've also found that the U313 update gives us the option of using the new Carbon appearance or going back to the "classic" appearance. Hopefully I'll find even more nice tweaks to the system.

I disagree that Carbon works fine on the H3. I have witnessed too many glitches that have happened in the 3-4 months I've had mine. For example, a couple weeks ago, it became impossible to switch to a channel that is on a timer recording and start at the beginning.

On the TV ACTIVITY screen, when you select a live program that is currently being recorded via a timer event, you are given the standard options of joining the program live, stopping the recording and watching the program from the beginning.

This last option, watching from the beginning, is now either purposefully disabled or is the result of another glitch.

Can you advise if this is a glitch or if Dish decided to cancel this option? I've tried hundreds of times, on both my H3 and Joey, and this option simply no longer functions.

As I said, it would seem there were too many bugs in this machine before they should have released it.
I had that problem a while back - "Start Over" (actually the middle option of the 3) would not work, period. You shouldn't have to go to DVR if you are already in Viewing Options. I'm not sure if it was a replacement H3 (for other unrelated issues) that fixed it for me or a subsequent update but all the options work fine now. Sounds like a "glitch".

Not that it's any of his business at all.
Sorry Sir.
But it's hard to know where someone is coming from, if one minute he's posting about H2 when he Just got done in another post Talking about an Experimental not released to the public Directv Genie that's miles ahead of his Hopper 3.

You're not suggesting people post crap about compeditors equipment in an attempt to run off current and/or future customers . :)

P.s. Can you tell me why my H3 has none of the issues posted here? (Hopefully obviously rhetorical)

I don't actually care about that to be quite honest.

But again it's hard to know whom your talking to if each post is the complete opposite of his last post.

I guess that since we are not seeing any new posts in this forum, that the bugs have all been reported and fixed.:eeek Scott, when will we see the public release?

There are still bugs.
They have just already been reported, now it's just wait and see until the next release.

A few of us Members have been communicating with Dirt, sending them additional information.

But it's also Summer, most people spend less time in front of the forums and the tub.

Well, I took the plunge over the weekend and forced my 2 HWS to download the CUI (U213). So far I have noticed the following bugs (or 'changes'):

- When I change favorite menus, the guide changes, but the title does not.
- When I expand my RSNs in the guide, I cannot select them - the highlighted box skips past them. If I cancel and hit guide again, I can select them.
- The Home Media no longer asks for a password when Parental Controls are enabled.
- Entering a number and hitting the right arrow while in the guide no longer advances that number of hours - it just changes the guide to that channel number (or the closest to it).
- When a timer fires off, it changes the channel even if other tuners are available.
- Overall, everything is a lot more sluggish.

Hopefully the next release (which I am assuming will be the 'official' release) will address all of these issues. (and hopefully the banner at the bottom of the guide will be able to be turned off!)

I hope so too. Unless this is what we're supposedly going to be forced to real soon?! I was lucky enough to have had the self forced CUI replaced with S52x after the early forced days and thanked God for it. Now I'm really scared, since I made the mistake once and only got nicked. Now they're saying it'll be forced here soon and it still has holes? Isn't there a thread begging that it not be done?
