One of our old Hopper 2000's crapped the bed last week so Dish sent me a new one yesterday. After getting it hooked up, I noticed everything on the screen looked different on the other Hopper (and I'm not sure I like the layout either). Anyway, after an hour or so, all the updates were complete and my wife went in and started setting the timers for all her crappy shows. However, there was nothing there when she went to check the timers. So I tried recording a live show and nothing. I called customer service and he told me to check the and see if the lasted software (or firmware, cant remember) was installed (which it should be since I just did it last night). It has version U102 but he said it should have U103 and that was the problem. I seriously doubt it is, but I did as he suggested which was hit the power button on the receiver to put it in standby mode. He said that would trigger an update to the software and sent me on my merry way.

All I could tell was that it downloaded the an updated guide. Once it was done, I checked the software and it was still version U102. Tried recording something again without luck.

Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Give it a day to settle in, it's a Hopper standard thing....

So I need to just allow it to get comfortable with its new surroundings? I'll leave the light on in the living room on overnight, too, to expedite it. :)

Kind of funny you say this because the customer service rep I spoke to last night suggested I need to allow it to sit for 24 hours to stabilize. It was late and I didn't feel like arguing so I said I'd wait and see if it downloaded the latest software overnight. It didn't so they're sending and second replacement.

Could any of this be because I now have mis-matched Hoppers in the house?

You might need to put a warm blanket and an wind up clock in it's bed too. Just so it will think it is sleeping with it's momma. Oh wait that is what you do for a new puppy that is freshly separated from it's mother.:biggrin
