Am i the only one who doesn't care about apps thru my satellite box? I change the input on my receiver( 1 push of a button) then i go thru my roku for one of the any billion apps they have on there. The picture quality is better on the roku.
If you don't have internet, i understand the want. However, i believe most on here have internet at their disposal. If you can get a roku, or amazon, or whatever and you will get WAY more apps then Dish will ever (Maybe) have.

I totally agree with your position. We do have one particular person here (Allen) who believes that a Dish receiver should be a one stop product but that is not even close to a majority of us. All that said, you need internet to make any of those apps work anyway.

you guys have to think i think the hopper 3 should have the apps you need to use i too have a roku but you got to think i know alot of you folks want amazon for next year.i want tunein and iheart try listening to siriusxm all the time and it is the same tunes all the time, with at least with tunein and iheart you can listen to the stations you want to listen to.i hope dish will get the youtube app to us this month.we all would appreciate it very much :)

i know you folks would like to see less apps on the hopper the only apps that i would like to have left on the hopper are these youtube, amazon, newson, spotify, hulu, tunein, and iheart after that is it.

I have a Roku. I have no problem using it. I have no idea if my wife knows how to use it. I might test her tonight. So if you don't hear from me for a couple days, you'll know the hospital doesn't have wifi. ;) :oldwink

I tend to agree with much of what bluegrass wants. It would be convenient to access Amazon Prime video and YouTube and even Netflix (which I don't subscribe to) from one box, with one interface and consistent remote commands.

Let's face it, while not difficult, the Roku remote is a world apart from Dish or almost any other remote. Showing someone how to go thru menus onscreen, with one remote, is easier than even using a Harmony- you still need to shift inputs, which may be easy, but then you need to use the Roku remote.

Would I love it if the Hopper was a one stop shop and I had no further need for the Roku? Sure. Do I expect it? Never. But since I was floored by the move to Netflix, I don't count out the possibility of Amazon Prime. Unless, of course, the Netflix deal precludes it.

Heck, Dish is trying while home automation. Why be surprised at some kitchen sink wish list?

Yet we can't reliably add/remove OTA stations, Hopper 3 customers can't (apparently) watch OTA either live or recorded reliably, and at least a couple of other 'bugs'. I think a focus on priorities in regards to the equipment and the primary functions that it is supposed to provide is needed.

I don't use OTA but agree that fixing bugs should be priority over adding apps. Heck, they haven't really even implemented Netflix very well as of yet.

For me, it is more convenient to use my smart TV or Roku rather than the Dish receiver.

I do not use my HWS receiver for Netflix because the Netflix app is implemented much better, and is more reliable, on my TV and Roku. I usually just use my smart TV for Netflix and Amazon (the 2 apps I use the most). My TV's remote control has a dedicated button for Netflix so it only takes one button press to access Netflix. That is even easier than changing the channel to Netflix on the HWS! It only takes 2 button presses for me to access Amazon on my smart TV. (how hard or inconvenient is that)?

It probably is a good selling point for Dish if they could say that they have Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube built in, but I agree that Dish should fix the existing issues rather than spend time developing apps.

I am in the camp with the "less is more" in regards to the apps. Heck, I can even do without Netflix. I've got a smart tv for everything I need that I can't get via DISH.
Actually if Dish removed the abilities to Netflix from their Hoppers and Joeys,
I'll go back to cable and their Tivos again.

While I'll be the first guy to agree, You Tube is pointless on the Hopper as are 90% of the other apps on the smart tvs and Rokus in our home.

Netflix on the hopper saves on Wifi limitations with 4 rooms to service that otherwise would be a pain in the ass in a larger home.

So I think Amazon, Neflix, Hulu.
Should be on The Hopper and Genies.
Music, apps though.... BLUETOOTH!

See I don't agree with OTA folks at all either.
OTA is a free service that not Dish networks responsibility IMO.
BUY A TIVO!
Or use your TVs Tuner.

See how that works.

I want Dish working on Satellite TV services and features that pertain to Satellite TV.

i agree with you on the music i listen to siriusxm, dish music and pandora through bluetooth, tunein and iheart radio would be great to listen to through bluetooth also.with tunein at least you can listen to over 100,000 radio stations and iheart radio has alot also too.

No they shouldn't spend man hours on supporting a service that you don't need satellite to get.

In the same sentence all the crying about retransmission fees Charlie has to pay, But yet in you want him to take resources from his company to support a free service you can get on your own.
Sorry as a Satellite provider OTA would be the last thing I would support .
Especially when I'm paying retransmission fees to carry channels on Satellite.

Charlie should charge you an additional fee to record OTA with his Hopper.

LIKE I SAID BULLSH-T IT IS THEIR OWN PRODUCT SO SUPPORT IT!!:eeek
Buy an OTA Roamio .
Oh wait thats not free...
Lets Just complain about the Free DVR OTA service Dish provides that has bugs.

Sorry I think Dish should get 10 different YOUTUBE apps before spending a Dime on providing OTA support.
