I really don't want to leave Dish. I've been happy with the H3 and haven't had many issues with Dish but the dilemma I'm in is my wife watches Bravo and if I drop below the Top 200, she loses it . If we drop to the 120 plus, I'll lose the MLB , NBA , NHL and NFL network channels I watch. My total bill equals to 107 a month as I have a h3 and one joey 2 and the top 200 pack. I'll save $10 if I drop a package below but channels I actually watch will be gone. Is it the channel networks or Dish to blame for the increasing costs?

I don't know what to do as I have a year left on my contract. I don't ask for discounts often but i wonder if I'm better off paying the termination fee and coming back. I was told if I cancel now, Dish can charge the fee within 20 days at anytime as the Rep said there was no set Day they do it.

If you've been a long time customer, call and ask and you'll probably get some discounts. I was given one without asking when I called about a problem. If they would have been more active with occasional discounts for long time customers I would have stayed, but I had already left after 15+ years for a Cox bundle when they tried to keep me from cancelling with very substantial discount.

The blame lies on the customers. Everytime a channel threatens to go down on any provider, customers threaten to leave, or do leave while screaming that the provider is too cheap to pay the channels. Then get pissed at the annual price increase caused almost solely by customers not allowing business to work. Consumers are the dumbest thing to happen to business. They say "I'll vote with my wallet", well thanks for screwing the entire market every time a channel has a contract renewal with a different provider.

You may think so, but think about the context. How many customers come into your restaurant and tell you or your employees how "it should be done" or "they do it differently at the other place". The truth is the customer can have permanently lower prices, or all the channels they want. They cannot have both. Even new customer promotions are still expensive for TV, but it appears a good deal as it is heavily discounted from the regular rate for a period of time.

That's the best you could come up with? Why not just say "supply and demand" for simplicity's sake?

That's been said, but the same people(not referencing the OP) still ask why, and no matter how many times it is said, they still don't understand. This was an attempt to spell it out plain and simple.

Honestly customers vote with their wallet.
So what...
Thats Business.
Customers don't tell me what we are doing wrong, They just don't come back. And that is their right.

Im not losing customers , So I don't have to make excuses.
I also don't have share holders to please,
So my customers don't have to go without because it might hurt my bottom line.

Corporate America is the problem, Not the Consumers.

Conglomerate extortion is far from true "supply and demand". Overpaying for exclusive content without much fiscal responsibility and expecting to pass the costs on to customers is also a factor.
This I can agree with, but let's pretend that customers allowed Dish, DTV, or any provider fight back against Disney over ESPN price. Do you think Disney would still over bid on games, or would they reel that one back in.
As to Troch, I will say this, then a block on you as I am going to choose not to argue(you can respond any which way, but I don't frankly care anymore, you're on your own) when you say that corporations are the problem, I beg to differ. Corporations are not big in Germany like they are in the Us, and when the US deploys, they almost go bankrupt everytime. Cuba is run by socialism, yet they are bankrupt. Small towns that do not have those big corporations, they are usually almost completely broke. Consumers do vote with their wallets, but that means they cannot complain when that vote causes their wallet to be that much emptier. Now I digress as this conversation is better for the pit, and tonight is the first night I have the TV to myself in over a month, so I am going to enjoy it.

Funny How Im so ignored, But yet yous can't stay away.

Like me being on ignore and mentioning it every 5 minutes is supposed to hurt my feelings.
SAD...

But in all seriousness I have no desire to argue with you.
Because as dumb as that comment was you made, your fellow members would rather follow their "Pals" with support than actual stand up for whats actually morally correct based on who made the comment.

If you want to talk about bad consumers, Try the ones that need to call in for a Loyalty discount when they want more than they can afford.

Who pays for that...
NOT Charle, Not the Loyalty discount crowd.
Not the guy who was Upset about a Free preview being to short and felt he deserved a credit.
Good thing for the "Bad Consumers" that actually pay the price their supposed too.

Are you getting the $15 a month discount for current customers, that would help if you aren't. (Requires a commitment and autopay for the full $15)

I do think customers are somewhat to blame, just look at the what DISH gives when a channel is in dispute in response to (sometimes angry) phone calls. As we have talked about in the past it's many things including companies like ESPN (Disney) paying incredible fees to carry sports, or the Major Networks - affiliates - allowed to escalate their fees. Of course it's also escalating costs for labor or fuel etc too.

I expect it to rise with inflation. That is fine. For me, I am talking about the steep rise well over the rate of inflation. Prices go up, that's a fact, but how much is the problem.

I am a long-time customer have not heard about this $15 discount. Are all current customers eligible for that? Is there a certain promotion that I should ask for when I call Dish?

Oh like health care the last 30 years?
Or
Like collage tuition the last 20?

But taxes are suppose to go down yet everything around us goes up?

Contact DIRT. That part is important unless you trust the phone CSR's. They will put an addition to your account where you can sign in and accept the new two years. You will get the Autopay discount separately in your next billing.
DISH since around the time the Flex Pack came out will give approximately the same new customer promotion to an existing customer with the same terms. I believe like a new customer most current would qualify to get it but there are always exceptions. (Owe on your account, always late whatever DISH uses..) The only difference (that I am aware of) is a new customer gets another $5 off their Hopper DVR fee.
Two year contract guarantees a $10 discount and price freeze for the two years. I am paying $69 instead of $79 for the Top 200. In addition and not needing the contract you get an additional $5 off if you use or are using autopay. Therefore I am saving $15 a month with no package price increase for two years. (In my case I dropped from the Top 250 because DISH has put the channels I really wanted from there to the TOP 200 so I am saving an additional $10)
This applies to the Top 120+ to the Top 250 I believe. Maybe also AEP

Gas went from $1.50 a gallon to over $4 a gallon. All prices went up witht he companies claiming gas prices made getting theproduct to market more expensive. Yet gas prices are now down to $2 a gallon and I have not seen any consumer goods prices drop 1 penny. An actor gets 50 million dollars to play in a movie and we wonder why cable and sat bills rise. Nobody is worth that much money, yet we pay it.

I mostly agree however consumer goods are not going to magically drop with a relatively new price drop in fuel, they didn't rise in a day either. What may be happening is better sales for some items or other ways the fuel drop is a benefit.
But you can see the effects of the fuel decrease in airline tickets, gas fuel surcharges for other transportation being dropped etc... I am paying sometimes prices I have not seen in years flying between Ct and Fl for instance. Are some companies just keeping the savings, sure but it also may be they won't need to increase prices either with new labor contracts etc..
