I thought the base Flex Pack price included one "pack".. but when I explore possible programming changes, that is not indicated.. CSR chat says this free pack was only for NEW customers ?

My Proposed Services
Flex Pack $34.99
Hopper DVR Service $12.00
Kid's Pack $10.00
Satellite Locals Pack $10.00
Wireless Joey Receiver $7.00
Variety Pack $6.00
FCC Regulatory Fee $0.03
Monthly Charges $80.02

yet the Flex pack thread http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/dish-introduces-flex-pack.362590/

says it was for new AND existing customers
  • Flex Pack skinny bundle offers choice, flexibility to create personalized TV package
  • $39.99 per month includes core package plus choice of one of eight channel packs
  • Channel packs, interchangeable monthly, include Locals, Variety, Kids, Action, etc.
  • Available for new and existing DISH customers
when did this change?

It didn't change. The base Flex Pack is $34.99 - $5.00 for EZ Pay for a total of $29.99. You can than add a pack for $10 for a total of $39.99. Same price, just different terminology. $39.99 with a free pack or $9.99 + $10 for an add-on pack. Both come to $39.99

I would love a package for $9.99 plus $10 for an add-on pack. $19.99 :D Like Welcome Pack, but with more options.

I get the Welcome Pack + the Movie pack ($5 for 6 mos), then dvr fee and taxes comes to $35 and change. Plus I have an outdoor antenna with TiVo, so I can auto skip commercials and still get Comet, Grit, Weather Nation, ION, Justice, Cozi, Bounce, Me, Country Music, and several Independent station off the sub channels in my area. Who needs more.

You are paying $54.99 not the $44.99 you mentioned because you added two Packs. As for Autopay that discount is not usually automatic you have to call to get it and it should show up in your billing, not under programming. Check your actual bill either online or the paper bill to see if you are getting a $5 discount, if not contact DIRT or call to get it.

As others have pointed out in the original Flex thread, the Flex approach isn't always less... would be nice if there was some increasing discount the more "packs" you buy... yes, I'll keep dreaming.

I've looked and can't find it on the Dish site. Does anyone know exactly what channels are in each of the packs? For the love of PIXL I may have to get 9 other channels I never watch.

When I called the rep at dish and asked what as in the flex pack, she turned it around and started to ask me what channels I watch. I told her if she wanted me to list out to her on the phone each of the 124 channels I watch regularly? She said, if I watched a channel then she could add the pack that it's in. If I knew that none of the other channels in the pack are for me, I'd consider forgoing adding that pack.

Also, I was told that my H3 does not need a card and that Flex packaging just needs to be activated on their side. But doing so would take me off my discount flat rate plan. I signon to DishNetwork.com and I see no options for Flex packages so I would be great if there was a reference as to what channels were in each pack. I know locals are a pack, basic is a pack but what channels are in basic?
Also are the movie channels in a pack or are the ala-carte as before with a total bundle discount.

If someone could point me to the breakdown I'd appreciate it.

I looked twice, I can't find BBC America in any pack. Anyone know where it is?

Without Dr Who and all the Marathons it runs, the pack concept is a deal breaker for me.
