For as buggy as their launch was it is a good gesture and may get some people to keep the service for the year (or longer than the 3 months they pre-paid at least).

So to recap:

- They still don't have 72 hour replay working reliably, yet alone DVR
- On demand is still a mess
- They've had major failures of program guide functionality over the last couple weeks
- They've mucked with the encoding profiles, cut everything back to 30fps for weeks (although it's back to 60fps now)
- As a result of the encoding changes, FireTV devices can't stream a feed at a resolution higher than 540p
- There are still areas that stuffer from instability, likely due to CDN capacity constraints

And what about us satellite subscribers, what do we get?? NOTHING!
Hey you guys get increased fees. You can look forward to increased DVR fees, box rental fees and whole home fees. Enjoy.

I use PS Vue. The day they have DVR fees and mirroring type fees I'm out of the whole pay TV game. It would be stupid if they did. Their whole service is based on no fees.

What makes you think that they are increasing DVR fees, box fees and Whole home fees ?
Last I checked, they were all bundled into one price.

According to most on the Dish board all services raise those fees. That is their main comeback when people talk about Dish fees.

Do you really think they will never raise fees again because of bundling?

Directv is the King of fees.
And that dumb bundled price, isn't squat for a discount.

Everyone raises the prices most of the time yearly .... suppose to cover cost of programming or new equipment ....

I just don't get how box fees keep going up when electronics go down in price year to year. Then the DVR fee goes up. I get why programming goes up but fees can be controlled.

When did they raise dvr fee last or equipment ?
I don't like any raise in prices either, but whens the last time you saw a company Not raise prices and add content ?

For a long time they raised the prices, but didn't break it down, so you really don't know what they were changing.

If they give me $120 off my Sunday Ticket, or pay for the $10 a month HD fee for the year (old example) equaling $120 ... what difference does it make, its still $120 off.

Big reason I have not went with the IPTV. No local channels. The reason used to also be no DVR but PSVue has that and Dish soon to release it.

This is one of the changes I'm really hoping the streaming services are able to drive within the industry - fees are absolutely out of control.

For 2 TVs, a Genie DVR, and HD - you're at $30 in fees with DirecTV before you've even put a single dollar towards programming. On Vue that same $30 gets you 45 channels (all in HD by default), DVR, and up to 5 simultaneous streams. That's one big thing the streaming services (Vue, Sling, DTVN, etc) have going for them -- you know you're going to pay the price you see (+tax) and nothing more. All this breaking out RSN fees, broadcast fees, equipment fees, regulatory fees, becausewecan fees... does nothing but piss people off. I honestly think that's a big reason people are happy to cut the cord -- they get these massive bills that are nowhere close to the advertised package price and it just feels like they're being deceived and taken for a ride.

IF Streaming continues and gains as the time goes by (streaming is still very new) you will see price increases just like you would with any other provider, they too have to pay for the product they are giving you.
The streaming boxes will increase in price with each new generation, programming will go up in price, Netflix has increased thier product from $7.99 up to where are they now, $12.99 maybe more. I'm sure the others will follow suit .... your starting at $35 a month, just like you were with Cable or D* when it started. My original D* bill was about $40 p/m when I started.

If they raise the price on my directv now I will just cancel. It's still not perfect but it's getting better and sure beats my $171 dishnetwork bill I had before.

I want to find someone with youtube's new service and see what they think of it.

Very true, they will go up, but I am going to enjoy the money saved right now with Vue, and it is not just programming costs that are the problems, it is all the extra fees, local RSN, a lot of providers are charging for locals and then the box fees.
