Unable to move or manipulate recordings

Sometime in this past week, I've lost the ability to move most (but not all) of my recordings, either to my own created folders, or to my EHD. When I bring up the "Manage Recordings" screen in DVR view, only a few of my programs are visible for any kind of manipulation (Move to Folder, Transfer to External Drive, Protect On/Off, etc).
These are all programs that I have been recording (and moving around) for a long time now. Anyone else notice this? I'm wondering if it's a U344 thing or the Program Guide "rework" or just one more thing that is wrong with my H3. If it's only me, I guess I need to rattle some cages for a replacement.

This bug happens every few updates. Seems like things recorded with Prime Time are not editable.
Wowzers....I've been looking for some kind of pattern and I think you may have hit it - for the most part anyway. I just took "inventory" and I realize that none of the Primetime programs are showing up when I select Manage Recordings. I guess it just so happens that we are watching more of those programs right now than usual. I have moved PT recordings to folders in the past tho, so this is apparently a new issue for me. Thanks for pointing that out. Mystery solved.

I am on U345 and it does not allow you to move PTAT recordings. When I click on options it only gives me the option to sort, group or change PTAT settings. No transfer. I also have individual timers set up for a lot of the PTAT shows and I have no problem transferring them to folders or EHD.

My problem is with PTAT recordings that I have as a result of my individual timers - I am unable to move them to folders or my EHD. It sounds like you are able to work with those. I don't think we have ever been able to copy or move directly from the PTAT screen. What I am experiencing is definitely a new problem - I have never had an issue with this.

You have always needed to wait for the PTAT event to time out before you can move the program to a folder or EHD. And, no, you can't do it from the PTAT screen. You need to save the program to your space, let the PTAT time out, and then do with it what you would like. It has been this way since the first day...

Thanks Bobby - I realize most of that - this is stuff I've been doing all along and it's definitely a new problem for me. These are my own recordings from individual timers that I have always been able to move. Something is different here for me.

Agreed - but the problem is you cannot do that today.

Just tried saving and transferring and zilch! Saved a show recorded on PTAT last night and went to it and pressed options and manage recordings and that show didn't show up as being available to transfer!

Well geez....finally!! I'm not the only one after all - I'm certainly not happy that you are having the same prob, but it seemed like this was just my problem and in addition, others didn't seem to understand that this was a new problem for me. I've been recording and moving these same programs for the past year exactly this way (assuming they've been on TV that long).
Typically, I set up individual timers for PTAT programs that I want and initially use "No Folder". Then I look over what I have recorded and I move what I want to watch later to one of my own folders. Some I will transfer to my EHD. And I have almost always done this the same day they were recorded.
I have a request in with one of the DIRT folks so I'm hoping to hear something back first of next week.

You MUST wait for the PTAT event, in the PTAT folder, to erase itself before you can transfer your saved recording. So, if you have PTAT set to save 8 days, or 2, or whatever, you must wait that amount of time before you can do the transfer.

Have y'all considered setting a timer for what you want to transfer and not using PTAT? I don't use PTAT at all, so I don't have these issues, so I don't understand any of it...

I set timers for whatever I want to record, don't record unnecessary shows, don't have to wait for PTAT skipping or whatever (just use my skip and forward buttons)...works fine for me...

BTW, whatever timers you set on your PTAT channels still only use 1 tuner...

I set my own timers for programs that are considered PTAT and I have ALWAYS been able to move them to folders the same day (or as soon as I get around to it). I'm letting the DIRT folks sort this out for me as something changed a week or so ago when many users were having timer issues. I can longer move them - they don't show up at all when I select "Manage Recordings". These were recorded late February/early March. Not a single one of these recordings has ever become "movable" -they just do not show up, period.
BTW - people on the other DISH Support Forum are now reporting this SAME exact problem so at least I know I'm not alone and not crazy! :biggrin

Here's an interesting little caveat I just discovered: If rather than using "No Folder" for my individual PrimeTime Timers, I edit those timers to send recordings to a "Personal Folder", I can then see those recordings, and "Manage" them just fine - move them around, to the EHD, etc. - Immediately. If "timing" had all of a sudden became a qualification, does it seem like this would be true?

I do set my own timers also. The problem with that solution though is that during times of the year like now (March madness) a lot of shows will not start on time and will run over, where that isn't a problem while using PTAT. I know, I could set the timers for two or three hours and not have this problem but that kind of defeats the purpose of having such a great machine. Looks like the guys doing these software pushes and the new guide provider are doing OJT and we are the guinea pigs!

sorry, I don't understand, PTAT automatically extends time if shows start late?
if PTAT stops at 10 p.m. and your one hour shows starts late at 9:20 p.m., what happens?

PTAT ends at 11pm. I've only had the 11pm cutoff come up a couple of times on shows I will normally watch and in both cases our local affiliates will post a streamer on the tv telling us that so and so show will not air at regular time and instead will be airing at a different time. Usually in the early am hours the next day. In this case we make sure to set up manual timers to catch them. Could create a problem if we weren't home to see the streamer but we usually are. We just choose not to view live tv unless forced!

At someone's suggestion, I turned off PTAT tonight and recorded all my PrimeTime programs with my own created individual timers - upon finishing, each of those recordings became IMMEDIATELY available with "Manage Recordings" and I was able to move them to my folders and EHD. So something is wonky with PTAT, apparently and this is now working as I had tried to explain earlier.
