Scott/SatGuys Staff,
Your News ticker at the top of the site pages is expressing support for Texas and those impacted by Harvey while Irma is bearing down on Florida. I'm sure the American Red Cross can use donations for the upcoming relief efforts in Florida.

Just a thought...

The Red Cross isn't soliciting for Florida yet.

Maybe not for Florida specifically, but they are accepting for Irma.

But the message I see is "Our Thoughts are with our SatelliteGuys Members & Family in Texas!" I'm sure there are also SatelliteGuys members in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico that have been impacted by Irma, and not just Florida.

The point I'm trying to make is not to elicit donations, but to let our SatelliteGuy members who have been, who are currently being, and who will be impacted by Irma that we are thinking of them and hoping/praying for their safety.

Hey, it's not my site, but it looks like Scott doesn't give two hoots about anybody but Texans, and I know that is not true. He choose to put the message up there, the least he (or staff) can do is keep it relevant...

Sorry I have been away the past few days as I have been at work backing up everything from our Hotel (Deerfield Beach Wyndham in Deerfield Beech Florida - Deerfield Beach, FL Hotel - Wyndham Deerfield Beach ) and our Marina (Palm Harbor Marina in Palm Harbor Florida.Palm Harbor Marina | Welcome | The Palm Beaches, Florida) to up here in Connecticut.

This way if things are destroyed we have everything backed up here. (God I love virtual servers!)

Backing up the desktops was the pain in the butt. :)

Anyways I changed above on FRIDAY. But for some reason it did not change above until I cleared the cache on the server.

Eva is worried about her dad, he lives in Spring Hills Florida and she can't get in touch with him and his phone number is out of service. :(

Hope everyone makes it through ok.

I knew there would be a good reason why. You were so good about getting the original News link up with Harvey, it made the lack of Irma response seem lopsided. Thanks for updating.

Hopefully your coworkers got to a place of safety and your backup operations become a Dry Run exercise in Disaster Recovery.

Now Irma's impact is being felt in Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama as well.

It's just another hurricane now
Tropical Storm, actually. Like I said, once Scott put the News banner up, he has a moral imperative to keep it up to date, otherwise those SatelliteGuys being impacted by any disaster might feel overlooked.

It's like Facebook/Twitter taking down Hate Speech or Fake posts; once they start, they have to keep doing so in a impartial and consistent manner.

You know what, why don't you set up your own relief site and spend 24 hours a day 7 days a week keeping it up with every nuance that can possibly happen. Scott has a job, this site isn't his breadwinner, as well as a family to consider. In all he does a great job juggling all that he does. While we're on this subject, Puerto Rico, a US Territory, whose citizenship are Americans never get much attention and they get blasted all the time with hurricanes.

Minimal damage in Spring Hill. A gas station had it's overhang mangled in a gust of wind. It passed by me as a Category 1 nearly a Tropical Storm but it had some higher gusts. I'm about 45 miles south of there.

I am glad you are OK. I sent a text yesterday to Mark at dishdepot.com but no reply yet. He is in the Fort Myers area.

I talked to Rey, and they obviously lost power but otherwise they are fine down in extreme south florida. He was getting a better look this morning at surrounding neighborhoods, but on his own property, damage seemed limited to a few limbs and small trees.

Who is Rey?
