Has anyone else on the Dish Forum had an issue with the Hopper 3 going into a random reboot loop? Last friday evening while watching television, my Hopper 3 shut down and went into a continuous reboot loop. Would reboot, then maybe 1-5 minutes of viewing television, then reboot again. Did this for over 2 hours. Contacted Dish tech support and was told it was a known software issue as of Sept. 14 and that it might be 7-14 more days before engineering could resolve this problem. NOT ACCEPTABLE. They sent a tech out Saturday and replaced the Hopper 3 with another Hopper 3. That worked fine for 48 hours then it then went into the same reboot loop. Called Dish again and after much run around, convinced them to replace my Hopper 3 with a Hopper with sling, because of the difference in software. They finally agreed, BUT, wanted to lock me into a 2 year contract. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Tech was here this morning to swap out the units. Love the Hopper 3 and intend to go back to it, when and if they get the software issue fixed.

Well, no response, so guess I'm the only one that has heard of this issue, although I was told there have been several hundred complaints.

Got a phone call last night from young lady from Dish customer support who wanted to verify that there indeed is a software problem with the Hopper 3 causing a reboot loop. Engineering has some of the units that were RA'd to them and are working on the problem. Verified that the problem was first noticed around Sept. 14th. Also verified my contact info and said she would notify me when the problem was corrected and they could return a Hopper 3 to me. Much appreciated contact from Customer Service.

Yes my one Hopper 3 is doing a continuous reboot. Dish Advanced Technical Support is telling me that this is caused by my having 2 Hopper 3 receivers connected to a DPH42 switch both fed with only one western arc Dish. They claim that this setup will eventually result in a failure of one of the Hopper 3 receivers. They want to install 2 Western Arc Dishes. I am still trying to get more information to confirm or deny this. Any comments are appreciated.

RA'd a customers H3 a couple of days ago due to continual rebooting. He said he was in the middle of setting a timer on his wireless joey when it lost connection with the H3. The H3 hasn't worked properly since. This was the first H3 that I've seen do this.

On the bright side, I brought the H3 back to the office and was able to transfer all of his recordings to an EHD.

Happened to me last weekend ( I can't remember if it was Friday or Saturday) - about the time I was picking up the phone to figure out how I was going to explain this, it quit the strange behavior. I didn't think about it again until yesterday, when it started up again - for maybe an hour or so, then all was well once again. I dread trying to deal with these people, so I'm glad it straightened itself out.
