I am thinking of upgrading to an HR54 for 4K but I want to keep my off-air tuner that currently works with my HR44. Will it work?

maybe
many say it does, some say it does not

also, its no longer supported, and could stop working at any time
it does not work with the hs17

The AM21 works perfectly fine with the HR54.

Curious if you ever lose the signal from your AM21 to HR54? It happens with regularity to me — switching to an OTA channel, I often get a black screen with an error message regarding signal loss. I have to disconnect the AM21’s USB connection, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. After a few seconds, the station pops up.

I get that now with the HR44. I reposition the antenna and the message clears.

Interesting. I can’t reposition my antenna as it is about 30 feet in the air. Shouldn’t be any signal problems here — I’m 15 miles line-of-sight from the local transmitters. TiVo OTA box on the same antenna is not showing any issues. Will mess around with this more the next time it happens.

No. I do have one channel that periodically won't tune in without changing channels back and forth a couple of times but that is an issue with the channel not the AM21.

Where are you located?

My AM-21 works perfectly with my HR4. Once it is hooked up, it passes through to all my minis. I heard the Directv was coming out with a new model - any thruth?

You might refresh the connectors or at least loosen and reset them.

Have you tried replacing the USB cable ?
That has fixed my issues whenever I have had them.
