None the less - I think you can get a new dual tuner directly trough dish if you subscribe to the dish protection plan or whatever it’s called.
Doubtful, since Dish has not sold them directly. That would be up to you and whoever you bought it from.

I got my second dual-tuner USB OTA adapter directly from Dish. I got the first one by trading my old single-tuner OTA adapter to another SatelliteGuys member in exchange for his dual-tuner adapter.

I had the dual OTA USB for my Wally and it was just plain awful technology, I paid $70 for it, I sent it back and got refunded for it, then bought a $90 vip211k and its OTA adapter is outstanding, albeit only single tuner.

For clarification, the ViP211k has the OTA tuner built-in. It is the ViP211z that needs the single-tuner adapter.

I got a usb single dongle from a Forum member here and it works good on my Hopper Duo but 1 channel has no audio
any idea why?
Does that channel have audio when you connect the antenna directly to the TV? If so, I had the same issue one time with one channel for about a week, with the OTA tuner built-into a ViP211. Then, the problem seemed to fix itself. I am guessing it is something the broadcaster is doing that makes that channel incompatible with that particular tuner.

Correct, the ViP211z requires the $70 dual USB OTA adapter that will explode if you install it. :)

Did Dish ever get the ViP211z to actually work with the dual-tuner adapter at all? The last I heard, the ViP211z had been abandoned, and only supports the original single-tuner USB OTA adapter.
Im not sure about the 211z as I never had an interest in that model. I have read the single tuner OTA USB adapter is better than the newer dual tuner one. If you don’t mind the older and a bit slower vip211k I would go with one of those models.

Take the cpu fan out of an old desktop, double sided sticky tape it to the tuner, power it with a wall wart, problems disappear. Tuner is still a genuine POS, but this kluge makes it work, gets all local channels.

These the the very best and bees knees. I use them everywhere I need whisper quiet cooling. Behind my Denon receiver, blowing onto the router and cable modem downstairs, cooling the hopper.

Amazon product ASIN B00080G0BK

$14 bucks, variable speed with a knob to get just the right cooling flow and if you don't turn it up all the way, you can't even hear them in a night time, all devices off, mode.

I have about 6 of them with 2 extras on my pegboard for just in case.
