To my knowledge, it's not legal for anyone to sell DIRECTV service in Canada.

If I were you I’d go for DirecTV Now instead of DirecTV Satellite. With a VPN it’s ridiculously easy to get.

already checked out "Directtvnow.com"
however, the channel I am looking for is not listed there
not even in the most expensive $70 Gotta Have It package
only 120 channels.....very poor selection

TV Japan is available on Canadian systems. Bell Fibe has it in HD and Rogers in SD in the Toronto area.

But do they give you the news programs free to all subscribers like Directv does? I don't know if that's what the OP wants, but Directv does that. I don't know if the Canadian services do.

Try it out, anyone with HD on 99/103 can see the newscasts on TV Japan, ch 2040. The other shows prompt you to subscribe, but the news is free to everyone. Some are SAP English, too.
