Hi, I'm trying to find an offset dish here where I live but it's gonna cost me lots of money so I found a 4 pieces prodeline for C band prime focus (f/D .37) so I would like to know your opinion about using it with a LNB with adjustable feedhorn to be used for Ku Band.

Do the f/D .37 is bad for Ku?

Ideally you would want a .6 F/D dish but a lot of folks just work with what they got until something better comes along. I use a combo C/Ku setup on a prime focus 3m dish. Even with a .278 F/D ku is doable.

If antenna has F/D 0.37 than feedhorn designed for F/D 0.37 should be used, same applies for antenna with F/D 0.6. Then performance of both systems will be more or less same. If there is no match between F/D of antenna and feedhorn than you will never get maximum performance.

Yes, I'm talking about using a LNB+Feedhorn that supports f/D of 0.37 on a prime focus dish in comparison with an offset dish with an LNB with .06 f/D

So I would like to know if in Ku Band it should do the same results

Than you will probably get more or less same results. Of course it is important to have antenna in proper shape (not warped), properly aligned and feed placed and aligned properly. Feed shadowing on big antennas not causing big problems and can be neglected.

Yes is a Prodelin brand new 4 pieces prime focus Dish, I'm a little bit concern because it is a solid 4 pieces dish but is a good quality one so in "theory" is not warped but I hope I can listen opinions from people that has done this before with real tests if possible.

I see, you are looking for somebody who had installed side by side 2.4m PFA Prodelin and 2.4m offset antenna (Prodelin, Channel Master..... etc.) and made performance comparison tests! I do not think there are many people did it. I have installed 1.8m PFAs and 1.8m offsets and can tell you that performance is more or less same.
PFA and offset, both has advantages and disadvantages, but if they both in perfect shape than and proper feeds are used than performance will be same. Prodelin is a company with good reputation which made many professional grade antennas. So, if you can get one, just grab it, install and enjoy Ku-band reception.
Add: Actually, you could simply continue the thread you have started ~4 years ago with the same questions and lots of useful answers from other users Problem with Prime Focus 2.4M (8 Foot) and Ku Band
And another one, exactly the same topic which you have started ~9 years ago 2.4 Prime focus what will be its equivalence in Offset dish for Ku purposes?

Thanks yeah, that old thread was pretty good and informative but the reason why I started a new one was because in the old thread the debate was about using offset dish over prime focus but never was mention specifically to be used as Ku band reception.

You are right, maybe nobody or almost nobody has tested an offset 2.4 meter dish over 2.4 Prime Focus but just in case I hope somebody had some tests.
