My AVR is on my bottom shelf in the back of my media room. It is too low to get a bounce off the screen in front to use it's remote control (IR). I want to at least be able to control volume with the Dish remote ... how to accomplish this? Can not move the AVR as it is a hardwired to speaker system.

I have seen the IR repeaters but will they work with the H3 remote? Is the H3 remote both UHF and IR?

Thank you

In the remote control settings, you can scroll down and there's an entry to add IR to the Dish Remote. It looks like you're changing to IR, but it goes from UHF to IR/UHF. I've tested it to be sure

So if I buy the IR repeater thing and set the Dish remote to send both UHF and IR then it should work ???

I don't want to give up my UHF function for the Hopper.
Thanks

Brussam - do you have a recommend device?

Just tried the IR and UHF thing on the remote. I have v52 remotes. The only entry in the remotes menu I am offered is to ADD IR as a receive ability in the hopper. I do not see any entry to add IR transmit to the remote. Am I missing something?

ALL RF DISH remotes transmit RF for the DISH receiver and IR for all other devices at all times there is no setting that needs to be changed.

Some of the older DISH remotes could be set to transmit IR for the DISH receiver but the newer ones no longer can be changed.

Do your AVR and TV support HDMI-CEC? If so, you may be able to have your TV send the volume control signals to the AVR over HDMI. Most companies only do this over ARC HDMI connections. If you tell us your TV and AVR models, we may be able to tell you if this is possible.

My LG TV supplied the audio to the LG Surround System with a fiber-optic cable so there is no volume control between the TV and the Surround System. The Fleetwood folks in their infinite wisdom put the Sound System in a cabinet with a solid door. So I added the infared extender to get the infared receiver outside the cabinet. I then just programmed the LG Sound system just any other aux system and then set the Dish remote to adjust the aux system volume instead of the TV volume. Works fine.

I got it sorted now. You are correct; however, I also found that I needed to change the option for what the volume and mute button does! Now it works.

Brussam ... I was after a model of the extender but I see Amazon has a simple one for $10 - will try it and thanks.

Thanks to all for chiming in.

Thanks, I guess my understanding of that wasn't right
