Hey guys!
Just joined in to ask a question of you experts and installers.
My Boss has a dish system at his camp. To my knowledge it is a single tuner w/o DVR.
I do not know what the model number of the receiver of the dish is.
He says he will get it the next time he goes to his camp.
He wants to add 2 receivers to the setup. Both units are to be single tuners w/o DVR.
I have been searching the forums and believe that DPP33 will provide the three receivers
with what is needed to make them function. Would it be better to use a DPP44 instead?
What do you guys think? I do some experience working with big dishes but little on the dish systems.
Thanks,
ckbrownla

While he's finding out what model receiver he has, have him determine which dish he has as well. More modern dishes have built in switches.

Right, would that be in the MENU under 6,1,3 or would it be better to use MENU 6, 1, 1, CheckSwitch?
Thanks

Yes I tried it on my home set and the 6-1-3 gave the best response. One screen and all data there. Dish type, receiver model, remotes and more. I love it.

Good Morning guys!!!!
I have more information about the camp installation.
From the the system info one screen, the existing receiver is a VIP222k. The disk is a DPP 1K.2, 1K.2(1), 1K.2(2), 1K.2(3).
Do you want to see the VIP222k system info one screen?
He had carried a VIP211z with him and attached it to the single cable from the dish. It did not work.
The system info one screen on the 221Z shows no switches connected. Do you want to see the VIP211z system info one screen?
The back of the 222k receiver has a DP Plus triplexer 175284 connected with cables going to the two sat signal inputs to the receiver.
He said that he tried all combinations and none of them gave any change in the system info one screen in the 221Z receiver.
When the 221Z receiver is connected to the tailgater portable dish has the following system info one screen .
The existing receiver is a VIP211z. The disk is a Mobile, Mobl(1), Mobl(2), Mobl(3).

I have photo images of the dish antenna, the system info one screens of the 222k, the 211z at mobile and the 221z at camp,
the triplexer, the 3 head LNB and the 222k dish point screen. I can send them to you if needed.
So why did the 221z not work with the 1K.2 dish? Would a 211k receiver work with the DPP 1K.2 dish or does it need a DPP 1K.4 dish?
THANKS for taking the time and trouble to help with this.

Hold on, the 222 works but the 211 doesn't? Sounds like a diplexer in the cable between the Dish and the receiver

IIRC even with a diplexer in the line the 211 should work as long as it's not hooked up to the TV2 line. I've got a feeling there's more to the story than we're hearing. :)

Well there is a DP Plus triplexer 175284 connected with cables going to the two sat signal inputs to the 222k receiver. The dish has the part # of: LNBF and a serial # of:A21201-WJOB. I may have the serial number incorrect.

Now this dish system is working with the 222k receiver. Notice the system info one screen in the 211Z receiver when connected to the tailgater. It reports this, the existing receiver is a VIP211z. The disk is a Mobile, Mobl(1), Mobl(2), Mobl(3). Can the 211Z receiver be configured to work only with the tailgater dish? Could that be the cause of the 211z receiver not seeing the LNBF dish system?

The 211 should be connected directly to the line that goes into the triplexer from the dish. Did you do a switch test after you connected the 211 to the 222 line?

I know that he did take the single cable loose from the triplexer connection labeled INPUT. When he had connected the single cable to the 211z receiver he did not have any display of guide data. The system info one screen on the 221Z shows no switches connected. Do you want to see the VIP211z system info one screen?
So to get to the switch test you would use 6, 1, 3? What might he see as the test runs?

If it's a 1000.4 then he should see a box that says testing 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc. After the switch test it should report the satellites that the dish is looking at, and the 211 should work then. You need to do a switch test or you probably won't see anything.

I just thought the same thing - that he's using the Triplexer to connect the 211 and ckbrown, the Dish is the right one, it doesn't need a .4
Thanks, that is good to know that the dish does not need replacement or the LNB!!! Whew.

As the dish is a 1K.2, should we see only testing 1 of 2 on the test screen? And you are saying that after the switch test the receiver will report the satellites that the dish sees and the 211z receiver will work. That would be great!!

It might first say 1 of 1 then it will switch to 1 of 2 then do 2 of 2 and then you should be all set.

Can any one let me in on the reason for 3 LNB units on the 1K.2 dish? I can not find a post to answer this.
Thanks,
ckbrownla

That would be a Western Arc LNB on the dish. (110, 119, 129) It should also have an input to add a 4th satellite location. So, the Check Switch would still do "1 of 4" through "4 of 4."

Thanks for that information. So what is the difference in the 1K.2 and the 1K.4 dish.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me to understand what is happening.
