Murphy Brown (CBS) - 2018

Well that sure was Murphy last night, 20 years later and more than 20 pounds later :D

It caught me by surprise that they included that segment about her secretary, I found that Hilarious (with one L).,

I remember all those crazy secretaries that Murphy had back in the day, real funny stuff.

it was better than I expected. Reruns of the original seem dated. Maybe they can pull it off in this era and having the son represent an opposing point of view is a nice touch.

Hopefully we will see the Jim Dial character in some way. I understand though that Kimbtough is somewhere in his 80s. He may not want the grind o fa weekly series.

I thought Jim Dial had died and that was why he wasn't on any more. But over all the "old Murphy" was back and even funnier to me than before. I like how they reproduced her house and it looked like it did when the show ended. I really like the guy who played her son. He was on a CBS show a couple of years back about the pills that increased your intelligence and he worked with the FBI.

Too bad Robert Pastorelli (R:I.P.) passed away only a few years after the original series finished, he passed away too young, sadly at 50, :(

I would have loved to see him on this revival.

I am pretty sure Murphy Brown was always supposed to end (for the season) after 13 weeks. I have no idea if it will be back in the fall.

It was cancelled after the initial run of 13 episodes is over.

" For Murphy Brown, the rebooted series was always intended to be a closed-ended order of 13 episodes. The multicamera comedy, featuring the return of star Candice Bergen and from original creator Diane English, has underperformed (6.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 in the key 18-49 demo) in its prime Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. slot and remains in consideration for a renewal. Fellow multicamera comedy Fam, starring Nina Dobrev and Tone Bell — which has already changed showrunners — will take over Murphy Brown's slot starting Thursday, Jan. 10."

I have the feeling that this is one of those thread where everyone will believe what they want and actual facts just get in the way, spoil the fun and are just generally beside the point.

If the ratings were good, I have no doubt they'll sign it up for another season. But alas they weren't, and so it wasn't renewed.

I think what hurt it, is that Murphy Brown was never big in syndication, I honestly can't remember ever seeing it in the listings. So unless you watched it back when it was first ran, you weren't familiar with the show. And this latest run wasn't really something you could jump into without being familiar with the show.
