Your CP reference leaves too much to the imagination.
I'll guess that you should have typed "Construction Permit". More sinister is the "Content Protection" representation. "Continual Pilots" is obscure even for a radio head. "Codepoint" is more obscure yet.
All of these CP appear in ATSC 3.0 documentation.
This is ridiculous. Why such a hurry when NO home user can even buy any sort of tuner that'll tune them in?
Allowing them to get the process rolling isn't the same thing as building facilities. The FCC is surely to be slammed with applications and nobody wants to be the last one looked at.

Would be interesting to see my local Albuquerque's TV market TV stations filed for CP in next few week to a year at the most.

All of the CP examples that I offered are in the context of ATSC 3.0, so it absolutely didn't go without saying. Even if you had included Tower Guy's link, the subject should have still spelled it out.Hey guys, CP means Construction Permit!
There is a database of applications, the CDBS, that you can search to see if anyone as filed for pretty much anything with the FCC. The database is pretty complicated to search but I'm guessing any applications that exist could be found there.
Of course applications won't start showing up until after the opening date.

But if I wanted to get technical, I'd counter that the FCC doesn't accept construction permits; it grants them. The FCC accepts applications.
Also, I would recommend the LMS database over CDMS, unless one is looking for assignments of licenses or permits, or transfers of control.

In the context of "start your engines"?
Subjects shouldn't have to depend on context as they're all the context many will see when scanning the new messages. My first guess was Consumer Products applications for receiver hardware designs (finally answering the chicken and egg question). My next guess was Content Protection.
One of our stations is ready to go and will be filing ASAP.

I am hearing rumbling that a second station on our stick is also considering upgrading.

Got to get prepared and start getting signals out there, before consumers start buying receivers. So, when they buy them they don't complain.
It's like preheating your oven before cooking your dinner in it...
The OTA stations that Scott typically talks about are in Connecticut (~1,300 miles from KC).
It is really more like an inductive cook-top that requires special pans that aren't available yet. WIthout the pans, you can't get any heat at all.
Car analogies are usually better than cooking analogies.
If someone (Dave Zatz?) could find documentation on an ATSC 3.0 receiver design in the FCC equipment database, that would be something to get excited about.

A guy at AVS forum (AVS Forum | Home Theater Discussions And Reviews - View Profile: kc9pke) imported one of the LG ATSC 3.0 tuners, and has been sending it around to a few different people that have had ATSC 3.0 testing in their area, and testing it out. So far, it does NOT work with the version of ATSC 3.0 that they have been testing in the USA.
Is it set up for the US market or is it one of those Korean domestic models that can't handle subchannels (what primestar31 is referring to)?
