TBSHD TNTHD MTVHD West now live

Bet we got both east and west just like they do on Hulu live TV.
Its all about making money off of commercials, better chance someone might watch it live and not skip them if there are Two feeds and two different shows on.
ATT Directv owns them now
Plus with that new Reverse band they have tons of HD capacity now.

If AT&T’s DirecTV has “tons of HD capacity,” I want tons more national HD programmers added to the lineup.

There isn't "tons more" out there. Pretty much all of the SD only channels now are SD only because 1) they are only available in SD 2) Directv's existing (older) contract doesn't let them carry it in HD or 3) it is a channel intended to meet their public interest quota (i.e. stuff like CSPAN) or they are being paid to carry it and only being paid to carry it in SD (mostly religious and shopping channels)

West feeds. Other than children's channels, which aims at older age groups as the day goes on, west coast feeds ceased to serve a purpose long ago.

SD. Generally agree, with the exception of infomercials, preachers, and "public interest" channels. A man speaking behind a lecturn, be he a preacher or a senator, is not improved by HD.

I have to disagree. I watch the C-SPANs from time to time. Most recently a week ago on an episode of Book TV featuring Annie Jacobsen and I've watched some of the merger hearings with AT&T/DirecTV and most recently Sprint/T-Mobile. Lots of good stuff on all three C-SPAN channels. While the content wouldn't be any better in HD, it's annoying watching this stuff in SD. Another channel that isn't that advantageous to watch in HD is Newsmax. I watched it from time to time on DirecTV, but when Charter added it in HD about six months ago, now I DVR nearly their entire primetime line up.

I agree wish they would add them in HD and get rid of the analog would be much more enjoyable to watch those stations

Directv has never had any "analog" channels.

They're NOT ANALOG whatsoever...they're SD - as in STANDARD DEF!!!
As factually stated, there is absolutely, 100%, NO such thing as "analog" on EITHER satellite platform!!! Just say "SD" instead of "analog" & you'll make sense to everyone here...plus less typing.

But yea, I DO agree that I don't get this total B.S., of adding all these west coast (HD) feeds, over all the remaining SD feeds of (east) channels that are STILL SD in 2019!!! (obviously the channels that DO have an HD feed available, of course)

I correct for everyone to make it SD instead of Analog though everyone know what I meant :biggrin:p

As has been posted many times over the years, channels like CSPAN are there to fulfill Directv's requirement to devote a certain number of channels to public interest. They don't have incentive to carry it in HD, but especially a channel like CSPAN that's just guys talking. What are you missing out in when it is in SD?

IIRC Newsmax is one of the channels that PAYS Directv to be carried, and they have to pay more to be carried in HD. So blame them, not Directv if you want it in HD.

Like we don’t know that
