Dish dropping Fox Sports Detroit?

Last edited:
We definitely understand how frustrating it is missing the sporting events. DISH has made every attempt to extend the contract in an effort to quickly negotiate a fair, long-term deal for our members, not one that puts customers in the middle again. There hasn't been a timeline give, but, we are still working to get the programming back, as quickly as possible.

People in the Champaign/Springfield, IL market will not be happy if they jump ship for DTV and find out too late that DTV is missing 4 local channels. Regardless, every dispute, people change from one service to the other. The number that jump ship is probably minimal

But locals can be fixed with a local channel connector kit and antenna.

Not so easy to replace a missing RSN

Umm, they're missing 2 non-local channels, also. I know Claude. You want Dish to fail SOOO bad. So bad.... but they just keep getting better and better and growing in many different directions. Must be frustrating for you

This Sinclair RSN negotiation happening now is a good thing for us Cubs fans who live in the Cubs DMA. If Sinclair can’t negotiate a deal for the new Marquee channel at least I’ll have a few months to find a new television provider. I love dish but if they don’t carry the new Cubs RSN I have to jump ship.

Not surprising when they remove channels that they claim cost a lot of money (and nobody supposedly watches according to them) and still charge their customers for the missing channels...

Well, make sure you research when the contract with the Cubs channel expires with your new provider, because if it's within 2 years, you'll be on the hook for an ETF, when that provider has their dispute with Sinclair

I had one customer, switching to Dish who said that not only did she lose all those channels, her bill went up $65! I know all the providers are guilty, but how can you justify a rate increase during a dispute like that?

Like this--CSR: "I'm sorry Mr./Mrs. So-and-so but you made an agreement with us when you started your service and it does state in the agreement that, and I quote, 'All packages and programming are subject to change and all prices and fees, except for price-lock programming offers or promotional offers, are subject to change.' But I can give you Showtime for $5 a month for 6 months."

I just got my bill for next month. It didn't go down. This company removes a supposed expensive channel from the lineup and still charge me the same price. Talk about thieves.

No kidding, without fsn what is left? A half dozen former root sport networks and a couple Comcast sports? It is insane 22 markets are basically paying at least $5 and only 8 markets get baseball.

What are those? The only channels recently dropped by D* (& Uverse) around here that I know of, have been our 4 locals...

I don’t know. That’s what I was told by a customer in the Springfield/champagne Illinois market

Smithsonian Channel and CBS Sports which were part of the CBS dispute with AT&T that was settled a couple of days ago.

True, but those 2 dropped channels - which were actually off a relatively short time anyway - are now a moot point...which is why his remark made no sense to me...
Uverse did loose PAC12 & NFL-RZ a few months ago...but D* never had PAC12 anyway & does still have the other...so I know it couldn't have been them.

They were off for a couple of weeks, which you may or may not consider to be a short time. :)
