Comet Hd

I am super happy! For anyone who doesn't know, Comet is the REAL science-fiction channel, unlike NBC/Comcast's fake and poorly managed competitor Syfy.

I was wondering why I couldn't find Comet in my guide today, but then when I re-added it through the guide menu and saw it was in HD, well, that made my day.

It'd be nice if the Hopper 3 would automatically replace SD channels with HD ones in the guide as they're upgraded. I'm sure there are a lot of people wondering what happened to the channel, and don't realize they have to re-add it to their guide lists.

New channels are automatically added to the guide unless you are using a favorites list. If you're using a favorites list then you will also not see free preview channels as they are made available.

DISH has the 'All Subscribed' setting for the guide which is probably the way to go if you want to see everything that you get but nothing else.

Currently, Comet is only available in our America's Top 120, America's Top 120+, America's Top 200, America's Top 250, and America's Everything packages.

BUZZR, GRIT, JUSTICE, and a few others I think are available in the Latino Bonus Pack, which can be added to the Flex Pack. Is COMET in the Latino Bonus Pack as well?

Comet is not currently available in the Latino Bonus Pack. It is only available in the Americas Top packages. -Christina W.

At this time, MeTV is only able to be aired in SD signal.

Here's a list of what I get OTA. I live in an urban market. I'm sure rural Dish customers would LOVE a lineup like this...hint, hint ;)

MeTV

We do offer Buzzr on channel 245, MeTV on channel 247, Bounce on channel 359, and GRIT on channel 217. I'll be happy to submit a programming request form to our programming team to let them know that you are interested in DISH carrying these channels.

·Keep in mind that there are many factors that go into deciding which channels to add to our lineup. That doesn't mean that we won't get it eventually.

Best I can do is request :)

Quest is a really good channel, btw.

I wish you could see my OTA MeTV. Its a 480i that reminds me of old analog signal C-band quality.

MeTV deserves good bandwidth. Its a really good retro channel.

We get the 720 version of MeTV over the air but with all the OTA re-packing going on there's no guarantee it will stay at a strong enough signal for us to get.

Makes sense, but using the favorites list is the only way to hide all of those annoying QVC and shopping channels in the guide, hence why it's necessary.

You'd think that if the channel is already in your favorites list in SD, and the SD feed gets removed entirely and replaced with the HD feed, that it would just update automatically -- same thing with the timers for scheduled recordings, so you don't have to set them up again on the HD feed, but that's not the case obviously. I understand if the SD feed was still available, then it would make sense to give you the option of whether you want to record the channel in SD or HD, but if you're taking out the SD feed completely and replacing it with the HD feed, and it's still the exact same channel number in the guide, there's no reason why it can't just automatically re-add the HD feed to the guide and update the timers in the DVR for scheduled recordings.

Back when NBC/Comcast took over and renamed it Syfy, I joked that SYFY stood for SillY FantasY.

It's no joke. The science fiction is gone from that channel.

It's true. They have one classic science fiction show. Twilight Zone. And that's it. Everything else they air is movies and horror shows that should be on Chiller, but aren't because no one was watching that channel, so they axed it and moved half the stuff over to Syfy instead.

The only shows I've been watching on the channel recently are Killjoys and Krypton.

Killjoys has 2 episodes left and then it's done. Krypton was canceled a month ago. This channel is useless now. What happened to the days when they used to air good sci-fi shows like Star Trek and Stargate?

In fact, the other day I saw two separate promos on the channel advertising their 2003 Galactica series and Xena Warrior Princess... but that they're only available on their App. You're telling me you can't find one single hour a week out of 140 to air those shows on your TV channel? I mean, what kind of nonsense is that? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the rebooted Galactica, but that was their own original production. Why they wouldn't want to have that at least somewhere on their schedule is beyond me. Same goes for every other original series they've produced, or continue to produce. It's like everything they do is a one-off thing. They greenlight a series, produce it for 2 or 3 seasons, then cancel it and never air the show again. What a disgrace to the sci-fi genre.

H&I (Heroes and Icons) is the true home of Star Trek now. It is a Trekkie heaven.
