Maybe it's time for Kramer & Jerry and their camcorder to bootleg live stream the games for fans. lol

George would find some foreign sketchy website to charge people.

And Newman would turn 'em all in.

Elaine would be at the game with Mr. Pitt where something crazy happens.

Cue the music.....

Just sub to the out of market package (Center Ice / League Pass both include the streaming packages), use a VPN and stream the damn games. End of problem.

Yeah, it's a bit of gray area, but it's not like anyone's stealing anything that way.

I think we all know about pirating these streams. It comes with an extra cost that most are not willing to pay. NBA Pass $200, NHLTV $150, VPN $125-$150 yearly. For a channel that is part of our regular package, most people won't spend this extra cash. We always supscribe to NHL CenterIce, and we are fortunate to be able to go this route. But make no mistake it is not a gray area, it is clear what your doing. Last week some bars in downtown Denver were served cease and desist orders from both the NBA and the NHL. so they look at it as black and white.

They look at it as B&W, because it is. The “out of market” rights are pooled by the teams via the league. Obviously the in market rights, which are retained by the individual team, are worth far more, due to supply and demand (the demand for some Denver team is far lower in Boston, where 95% of people are Boston fans, than in Denver, for example). In sum it is stealing to “move” or use a VPN to get “your” team in an out of market package, even if you pay for it.

All of those laws / rules should be done away with by the Federal Government.

Once and for all.

No boundaries for anyone in the USA.

These stupid artificial BS rules just like TV stations locally go back to the 30's.
None of them are needed now and should ALL be done away with.

No matter what sports team or where.

No matter what sport either.

Just one big American country not these stupid boundaries.

If you live on a border state you are forced to take those locals from the bigger city in another state.

Same with sports teams blacking out the games even if I'm paying .

All of this needs to be fully gutted and ended.

We need smart and younger politicians who will have Americans backs and not these greedy ass sports teams and TV networks.
Cashing in big at our expense with these decades outdated laws / rules and loving the fact they can screw us all and get away with it.

Can't happen soon enough for me!

Of course, the federal government has no such power. The broadcast rights to the Denver teams in the Denver market BELONG to the owner of the team.

He can sell them, or not, to whomever he wants.

Read the last clause of the 5th Amendment.

The US Congress makes the laws. And America owns the airwaves and jurisdiction of them.
If they wanted to create news laws with no borders for sports TV channels.
The US Supreme Court could back them up and end of story.
The current system of fake borders and greed by the current networks / network system / team owners would end.

They could apply the law to any method of delivery as well.

One big country no fake borders.
You get to see every single team that is broadcast if you want to pay to see it.
They would no longer black you out anywhere. All that s### would be gone.

Also, forcing teams based on the specific area you live would be gone.

The team would not be able to hold hostage any American wanting to watch "their" team that is in another state or city.

Same goes for local TV channels trying to force you to watch their local ABC/NBC, etc.
That should end easily, just let everyone watch a network feed.

That is what the future will be and the soon we get there the better.
But it will take "Young" politicians that are future thinking and tech savvy.

Todays politicians prove they still know nothing about tech. Nor have they cared to fix the above problem.

BTW, you are aware the FCC is going to allow these local TV stations to create a local newscast in another city or hub city and then send the newscast back to the other local city. Giving the appearance they are still local but the newscast is created elsewhere. This is to save big money for these greedy corporations that own a bunch of local TV stations.

These corporations that owns dozens of TV stations will just have one master hub city and send out the newscast to St. Louis, Portland, Charlotte, etc. They will not even have local news anchors anymore. All will be faked back at the HQ. So their HQ anchors will act like they are in whatever city they are told to talk about. Can't wait for this to be a massive fail once word spreads.

I wonder if this means a full time 4k channel or if it's just 4k programming when there's a live game.

No the Supreme Court would not back them, because, unlike you, they have a basic understanding of what the Constitution says. And, BTW, “airwaves” AKA OTA TV, and satellite distribution are unrelated legally

The FCC has no jurisdiction to “allow” or not allow this practice, which has been going on for decades already.

No overflow channel (at least yet) is live - I only really care about the college hockey on Altitude and sometimes it was on that overflow channel.

Noticed that also. Saturday night is a double header with the Avs and Nuggets both playing about the same time. One of those would be on 681-1. In the past, the DTV guide info for 681-1 would be very late in appearing. Or....maybe 681-1 is a separate negotiation...LOL

I got a $1.80 refund from Comcast. Did DirecTV give out any?

Funny also the AG's office says Dish has no regional sports fee. Is that true? Do they just bundle it in the package price?
