Although I didn’t support the T-Mobile/Sprint merger, Charlie will have his hands and money tied up in this for years.

Be interesting to see how this plays out with several million new “Dish Pre-Paid” low income boost mobile customers.

This is a win win for me today. Dish ain’t buying Directv, and the Boost Mobile/Xfinity prepaid deal will likely fall apart shortly thereafter.

Comcast ain’t going to allow their internet service sold in Dish Network stores along with Dish branded cell phone service to compete with Xfinity Mobile.

One thing is for sure, Charlie better invest some money in the Boost Mobile stores. Every Boost store around here is ghetto looking with bullet proof glass separating the customer and employee. Welcome to YOUR new Dish Network store.

Why in the world would Dish want to buy a company that's going belly up? All Dish has to do is outwait them and those customers will migrate over on their own.
that may be the funniest thing i have read in awhile

What's to say Dish will survive?

Right. It's like two guys fighting, both of them badly cut and losing blood. Who's gonna pass out first?

Battling satellite radio competitors Sirius and XM come to mind. The market just wasn't big enough for both of them, so they were allowed to merge. The situation isn't as dire yet for DirecTV and DISH, and both are parts of larger companies with other businesses (especially true of DirecTV/AT&T). But at some point, if the government will allow it, it just seems likely that both sides will want to make some kind of deal to join forces.

The only way I could see a Dish/DTV merger would be if Charlie Ergen had full control of the combined company. He would not agree to anything less...

That's a lie right there so your credibility is shot.

Compare current modern hardware without discounts:

DTV: Genie2 $25 clients $6
Dish: Hopper3 $15 clients $7

722's used to be $17 each
they still are
922, 722, 722k, 625, 622, or 522$17.00

as for directv there is a $7 per box fee, no matter the box
there is a $10hd fee ( i get a $10 credit free for life)
a $10 dvr fee (one per bill)
and a $3 whole home fee)
i am also on the old plan were i get the first receiver free, something i also never had with dish

First 722 did not have the $17 charge, just the additional ones.

At the time, the DVR fee was $7, so the total for 2 722s was $24.

So, $7 + $3 + $10 DVR is $20, still more than the Hopper3 $15.

Not a merger...a spinoff..att spins off directv and somehow forms a new company with dish...thats what the money people want

Money people? The only "money people" interested in a deal like that would be AT&T people trying to unload a turkey they never should have purchased in the first place and haven't got a clue how to run, other than into the ground. (We really need a good laughing emoji).
