New HD is here

Color TVs were very expensive when first introduced (think 77" OLED) and, as explained above, championed by NBC (owned by RCA) in order to sell TVs. So the first shows were NBC and very few of those. For those who wonder why NBC is called the "Peacock Network" it is because, before the airing of a show, they would have an animated peacock open up its tail feathers all in different colors and announce, "The following program is brought to you "In Living Color". (Which also explains the title of the Wayan's comedy show that came much later)

The first shows I remember were "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" and "Bonanza". We had one family up the street who actually bought one! I remember that his father worked for WQXI (the Atlanta AM station that was the model for the later TV show, "WKRP In Cincinnati") and also had a basement full of shortwave equipment. So he may not have been "rich" (and almost surely wasn't as these were all post WWII clapboard houses) so I bet he was an enthusiastic 'first adaptor' who would have posted here.

And I remember the shocking news from his son (and my friend, Johnny) that Little Joe's jacket was GREEN!
Network Color Idents (This clip has the "Laramie" Peacock in it)
Original NBC Peacock

My Aunt and Uncle had the 1st color set in the family, I remember going over there on Sunday nights and watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and Disney's Wonderful World of Color

I’m still waiting for TV Land HD. That’s one channel I watch a lot at night. One thing that makes me miss DirecTV.
It is available, but you have to stream it from dishanywhere, and use a Chrome browser. (Safari browser may also work, but I am not sure about that.)
The national feed is also SD-only. Maybe if you are lucky enough to live in a market where Dish carries the local affiliate in HD, or if you can get good OTA reception of your HD local affiliate, that would be a good option.

I remember it both ways. Maybe they were colorized at a later date?

According to Wikipedia, they were all filmed in B&W and colorized later. Mister Ed - Wikipedia

By the way, when I was a teen, we lived right next to Alan Young who used to play some card game (bridge?) with John Wayne. I never saw John Wayne with my own two eyes.

Ah, you must have been a Valley boy like me. A high school buddy of mine had Chuck Conners for his next door neighbor. That was in Woodland Hills. I grew up in Reseda, Dan Blocker lived a few blocks away (in the days before Bonanza) and Gorgeous George lived literally around the corner from my house. I used to ride my bike over to the Double R Bar Ranch in Chatsworth and have been known to pet Trigger on the snout over the fence. Gabby Hayes lived across the street from a youth club that I belonged to in Northridge. He would visit with us from time to time. Nice man!

Name dropper.:)

Ah, I forgot John Wayne lived in Newport Beach for a time. He lived in Encino before that.

We also had a house in Newport Beach with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Of course the house was so old and unappealing, it actually subtracted from the land value. ;)

I must be blind. I looked all over the Mister Ed page and the closest thing I found for any colorization was the title screen. Could you point out where on that page you found it? Cause I’m clueless.

The Wikipedia entry doesn't mention any details about any episodes being colorized other than that title screen which you found. What I was reporting on was the number of episodes produced in B&W, namely all of them.
All 143 episodes were filmed in black and white.

Shout Factory released the entire series on DVD, and customers on Amazon say they too were in B&W.

The boxes for TV antennas at Radio Shack always said"Color TV antenna" just so people would know it wasn't just for B&W.
And these days they say "HD Antenna" as if your old antenna wouldn't work for HD signals. In the analog TV days I also remember an ad for a TV set that had "FM Sound", of course every TV in those days had FM sound.

And of course the flip side of that was that I used to have a portable radio capable of picking up the audio from analog VHF TV stations. That stopped being useful after the digital transition. :(
