Is it possible to lower your price on the receivers, to compare to the Dish Wally, the Wally's has it rock bottom cheap, going for a least $50 - $38 brand new on eBay, doing very well, i personally believed you will get alot more customer, by a adapting to the Dish model of flooding the market with cheap receivers, instead of free installation

After one month of Orby I have had enough. I really don't like the DVR. Has to be rebooted twice a week (when the DVR commands stop working). No 30 second skip. No fast forward or rewind faster than 16X -- takes forever to skip at that rate.
Also the menus are awkward and sometimes there is a delay between pressing a button and seeing something happen on the screen. Sometimes I press the button again after no response and it does something I don't want.
Anyway, besides lower equipment prices, Orby needs a better DVR and more channel choices. I really miss some channels I used to have before Orby. I knew the channel selection was limited going in. I thought I could go without them. But that is no longer the case.
I put autopay on pause - forever. Will be selling the DVR and dish if anyone wants them. The Orby experience was not for me.

That's exactly my point, receivers are too expensive for the limited amount of channels, satellite market is very slow right now
i bet they will come back and say there programming is lower than dish or DTV that's why the boxes are so high. after reading what N6BY wrote the DVR sounds like a POS. i wouldn't use orby if things go wrong there no credits for that to your acct..
I think what they will tell you is keep paying the Fees for equipment..Dish 1 hopper=$15..3Joey's $21.. That's$36 month in just fees...4tv's Orby 1DVR 3 receivers $4 month..Then you can look at the programming according to your needs
Would you rather pay $100 as a one time fee or get a free receiver or one for $50 and pay $7 forever?
This is exactly why we have $20/mo DVR fees, $10 HD technology fees, $7 additional receiver fees.
Dish was the king of “FREE DVR” back in the day. Just pay $50 as a one time charge for the receiver.
Everyone wanted Free DVR.
So the DVR was free and they want to the $5 monthly fee.

That was then, they are dozen of people bidding on a single receiver on eBay, below $100, Best buy stop at 87 sold for months, no one is buying, 4 room setup for just receivers $400, may look cheap for you, but alot for some people, just for the fun of it place a orby receiver on eBay for $60, see how fast it sells
I'm sure OrbyTV is a great service. The monthly fee can't be beat for the channels that they offer. I usually don't buy the first version of anything because I don't want to deal with bugs. I've read that their DVR has issues. I also want to make sure that the company will be around before making such an investment in the equipment and installation.
When the 2nd generation of receivers come out that let you stream to devices on your network, carry more channels in HD, and offer more DVR storage, we might consider it. We would at least, like to be able to log into network streaming apps with OrbyTV credentials.
I know that receivers cost money to develop and manufacture. Truck rolls aren't free, either. I would rather pay a small fee and get a higher quality receiver that offers more features, and a protection plan that covers hardware and service visits. With satellite, lightening strikes and equipment failures can be expensive. Streaming sticks are cheap and easily replaceable. Currently, the initial outlay for equipment and installation may be out of reach for many people. Especially, during this pandemic economy. It's also a risk if the company goes under. They did offer equipment rental for a while. But, stopped.
I'd like to hear more from OrbyTV. How many customers do they have now? What future plans do they have in the works? Will they carry more networks? Will they expand their HD offerings? Any new receivers in development?
I think, OrbyTV has a good shot. If they play their cards right, they just might be able to get people to dump their streaming sticks and go back to satellite. In this pandemic economy, people are looking to save money any way they can. We need TV to stay updated. Internet and streaming services keep going up. Hopefully, OrbyTV can help a lot of people save money.

I just signed up for Dish Network with Americas Top 120. For the first two years my monthly bill will be less than ORBY with a DVR and the Extras Pack ($54). NO upfront costs for the receiver or installation.
I threw away $270 for an Orby DVR and the self install kit. I could have purchased both for $200, but by the time I found out about that deal it was too late.
I don't know if I can sell the Orby DVR because it needs to be unplugged and cold started about twice a week when the remote control becomes unresponsive. (I don't sell broken things). I don't know if the problem is a hardware problem with my receiver or a software bug on all receivers. Should I send it in for repair, or would that be a waste of postage???
Below is my Dish Network bill for 2 years. After that it will go up I am sure.
Looking forward to your Dish Network's month 25 bill, or the cancellation fee anytime before month 24 if you don't like it. No equipment charge with Dish Network, because you own nothing, but you are on the hook for two years of service, like it or not. If you want to get rid of it before two years, it will cost you..
Just a suggestion, reach out to Orby and tell them why you are discontinuing service and ask them to test the STB. If defective, ask for the STB money back. If no problem, sell with a clear conscience. Either way, it will be less money out of your pocket than it will be if you opt to cancel the Dish Network contract any time in the next two years.

No, not looking forward to bill 25. But I can switch providers or try to negotiate it down if its too much.
I agree that I would rather own the receiver than rent it. And no contract is nice, but I understand that Dish has to recoup their investment in the dish, LNB, and cost of installation.
If I send back the Orby DVR for testing, I am not sure if they would test it for 3-4 days to reproduce the problem I am having. Maybe I'll call and ask.
However, last time I called they argued with me about my bill. They cancelled my service. Turned out to be THEIR billing error. They turned off my service without warning even though I had a large credit balance. They did, however, apologize for their mistake and offered me a free month of service. But I have not seen that show up on my account yet.
Dish Network is messed up too. I subscribed to them for a very long time. Once they claimed they owned the DVR I purchased. When I disputed that, they required me to show them a receipt. But this time around that issue won't come up since its leased.
In the end, you just have to find the TV service that sucks the least. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find it. Orby simply didn't work out for me.

I have had Dish for quite a few years now and installed myself with a used 311 receiver and upgraded later on to a used, like new VIP211K receiver.
Paid the DVR one time activation fee and the equipment operates flawlessly. I can only remember one signal loss event for several minutes before a cloudburst years ago. The signal is rock solid on the eastern arc.
Even with price increase this year, the Dish Flex Pack is still less expensive than the Orby service with the DVR for me.
The only tempting thing for me is that Orby has The Science Channel and Motor Trend in their lower channel tier.

We have been happy with our service. Cost is very reasonable at only $40 per month to run four receivers. I installed everything myself and used a modded DirecTV Slimline dish. (

Got two for $50, one for $54 and one for $99. They are bought and paid for - which I prefer - no monthly fee BS.
I bought 2 of the receiver with install kits at $100 each..one receiver at BBuy $50 and a DVR fron eBay
