dish decline

As far as Starlink, $500 for equipment and $99 per month for service. Hard pass....
Hughesnet for just 50gb data limit ( then they slow you down), 25 Mbps download speeds, 3 Mbps upload speeds is $130 a month for six months, then $150 for the next 6 months, to purchase their equipment is $450, so total for the first year is $2030.

StarLink with a lot faster speed, and no data cap, the first year is $1700 total with equipment.

I don't sub to any streaming services and I do not plan to. Their glitsy new shows are not worth the price of admission.

I have never watched anything off streaming pay channels except free previews and they go buy fast and are gone.

Dish gives me a few shows I enjoy watching and the rest of my time is mine.
How do you know the shows are not worth it if you never watch them.

And what is so different about paying streaming services for content then paying a Traditional Provider extra money for Premium Channels like Showtime, Starz, etc to get more content?

One benefit to a traditional service is "one stop shopping". You don't have to have one app to watch Mandalorian, a different app to watch The Walking Dead, a third app to watch Property Brothers, etc, etc.
What is so different then watching shows on different apps then watching shows on different channels?

In many cases the app will make you login again. Since my IPhone has created long passwords it can take several minutes to login. Changing the channel takes 2 seconds. Some people spend a lot of money on coffee, or golf, or bowling for entertainment. I am willing to spend my money for the excellent entertainment that the Dish Hopper3 provides.

We regularly use the "Find" function on our Firestick 4K's to look for programming to watch. We don't need to open any apps manually since the UI takes care of that when we select what we want to watch. About the only time we have to login or reactivate an app is when it's one we haven't use in quite awhile. All in all, it's not a lot different than channel surfing the EPG or using the "Search" function on our Hoppers. I'm really looking forward to seeing what features the upcoming "Hopper Plus" brings to the table in the streaming world.

While reading this thread I have been enjoying the Raider's vs Broncos game via my TV antenna and TiVo. I'm also a Dish subscriber. But if the price goes up too much after my two year contract ends I am happy with OTA and Amazon Prime.

Obviously, OTA competes with Dish. NextGen TV is now active in my area (Sacramento) and I'm just waiting for the first decent Nextgen DVR.

Amazon Prime guide is turtle slow and clunky and OTA? Try to find watchlist in Prime and cycle through content. You will die of fatigue. If you think that compares to Dish you have REALLY low standards

ummm... yea. How does that change having to close one app and open another?
How are those 2 clicks any different that keying in channel keys or program guides or how many to search for something that's on-demand?
People should just stick with what works best for them, but that doesn't mean one way is better than the other. It took me a few months to get used to streaming but now, it's as seamless as watching TV. And I don't miss recording because I don't need to save things I can watch whenever I want. That's just me though. The only downside is waiting a day to watch shows like Yellowstone, etc

I am very happy with OTA on my old TiVo Series 3.

As for Amazon Prime -- I never said it competes with Dish. But if I dump Dish it would be a source of movies. I'm OK with Amazon's Guide. Perhap's you have a slow implementation of their GUI on your device? My 2 year old Sony TV works just fine with Prime.
