Tenga Stations Return to DISH.

I could care less...I want access to the channels. I hate these disputes. The one who loses are the viewers. The prices go up anyway, so does it make any difference? Welcome to World today...
But HOW MUCH will it now go up? I invite you to price equivalent Verizon FiOS TV…

makes sense that one or both sides caved due to the Winter Olympics and Super Bowl, Winter Olympics only happens every 4 years and the Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year in the US, i bet NBC pressured both sides to cave and end it with a agreement being reached.

I'd take a guess that Tegna caved the most or first. As Charlie still had the option of most of their subs to pickup those stations OTA. Dish has been spewing out OTA adapters and offering free antennas like candy.

The rep even offered me one when I just called because my Showtime special was ending. I told her that I had a 4 dipole amplified UHF antenna in my attic. And guess what, she said that their antenna was special and it wasn't a older UHF. ROFL!!! OMG, it was hard to keep a straight face as I wanted to reup on the new Showtime special.

Not really since Mediacom has been missing the Tegna stations since the beginning of last year. So they missed last year's Super Bowl and most likely will miss this year's.

You can keep hoping that. More than likely both sides gave up more than they wanted. Of course, we'll never know.
I didn't say I was "hoping" anything. Given the 21 NBC stations Tegna owns and the sweeps this month that effects advertising rates, plus Tegna attempting to sell the company, I suspect there was a lot of pressure on them to settle. On the other hand, with the proliferation of streaming and OTA, Dish likely was not seeing any significant subscriber defections at this point, and could hang in for the best possible deal. I think it's reasonable to assume that the settlement was nowhere near the 300% increase Tegna was alleged to be asking for.

300%???? Holy crap!

I'm sure you could be right but I can't find any online articles mentioning that they came to an agreement with Mediacom as well. Could you post one?
Yeah, interesting. A friend has Mediacom and stated his channel came back on. But maybe he got confused with his OTA that he has setup.
I'll have to see if I can get an answer from him.

The price of Dish cannot go up that much. They have to stay competitive. Dish still is the lowest priced service. Direct & cable are more here. For what we get in this day, and considering how expensive things in general are getting, Dish isn't bad. I sign a new 2 year contract every two years to lock in a price. Being over 70 also helps. I get about $25 off a month from the regular bill. There is no Fios TV out here, just Charter. We have Verizon for cel phone service, which I have, but no TV service. Charter isn't too bad as they do carry some diginets, but is more expensive. Dish is the best for me. I am still Grandfathered in with the Super Station pak for $7. No one else carries those either.

This feels like Tenga blinking. They don't need the DISH audience for the Super Bowl. That's going to have huge viewership, and it's one game meaning most people would find a way to watch it anyway. At a bar, friend's house etc.

But the Olympics is very different. They do need every set of eyes they can get. Viewership very early on has not been great and it was predicted it would not be at the least early. Huge money has been invested in it, and it is an event over many days so way to easy for people to just not care enough to make an effort all that time if DISH does not have it in their market. Keep in mind some of the competition is available without NBC affiliate.

Yesterday morning, I saw at least three PR commercials from Tegna saying what a wonderful and dynamic communications company they are (on the station that was removed). They are trying to sell, which makes me think, to show decent revenue, that they did the blinking
