You posted that directv stream was also part of it if the stations are pulled.
I was making the point that it was the same when Dish and Disney/ESPN had a dispute. Sling also lost the stations because they are the streaming version of Dish.

That is not what I was referring to. There are Fox apps for streaming, and in the case of Fox Sports, the PQ for 4K is superior to DTV. All you need is a login for (or a close friend/relative) to access them.
And I agree that stealing is bad and wrong. But both the ability to do so, and the availability of some the same programming on other services is cutting into the retransmission booty for station owners everywhere.
At the end of the day, as always, this will get worked out. DirecTV is the go to system for sports fans and, more importantly, sports bars and the loss of FS1 and 2, and OTA Fox in big markets, would hurt their standing at a time it really needs to marshal its resources for the coming streaming bubble collapse.
DIRECTV needs to sign a new contract that runs out in June. Now is the worst time to renew. FOX was pretty smart to plan this out.

Juan and I agree on nothing usually, this time he is right.
TV Everywhere apps are provided as part of the per channel fees that providers ( and you) pay, if DirecTV ( or anyone else) is not paying those fees at the time then they should not be available to you, it costs money to put those apps up.
It is no different then using someone else’s login for Netflix.
If you do not like it, switch service, or try out a different service temporarily like YTTV so you can watch Football this weekend.
Your not paying for services provided..in the old days this would be cable piracy..or satellite piracy

Well Fox sure paid a lot for FIFA world cup soccer? I think they need ratings as soccer is way behind the top 4 sports? So Is losing money part of their strategy?

Anyway, Fox’s strategy is not to lose money, and it isn’t losing money. It is fair to say that Fox has a different view of the supposed inevitability of non-linear streaming. Time will tell who is right, but my money is on Fox (literally).
But the new world of multiple options makes retransmission issues different. In the not too distant past, if one of the three providers (DISH, DirecTV, local cable bandit) dropped a channel, it was an investment of time and generally money to switch. Now it is just signing up for a linear streaming alternative, or stealing from one. And some of the material is on other services you might be paying for anyway.
This should, over time, cause retransmission prices to go down. It also is why no provider will ever sell sports a la carte.

i get the feeling DirecTV and Fox will reach a short term agreement so people can see US vs Netherlands on Saturday, as that's a huge deal with this year's World Cup.

I'm in the DFW market & I haven't as yet seen any Crawlers on the channel indicating the carriage dispute. I may have missed it but I've been tuning into KDFW Channel 4 for the last 2-3 days off & on.
The reason may be that KDFW appears to be owned (according to the small print at the end of their local news at the bottom of the screen) by "NW Communications of North Texas" (or something close to that).
I have seen the ads & Crawler at the bottom of FS1.
