What's the difference in the Joeys?

There are still no plans for DISH to make a ATSC 3.0 OTA Adapter.

If they did, we'd hear a giant flushing sound of money "going away."

The OTA dongle allows for a separate OTA ATSC 3 dongle to be developed and used. No need for building such into a much more expensive H3.

I think that the issue is DRM and making it work with any attached Joeys though Scott may know more about that than I do.

There really isn't much need for an ATSC 3.0 dongle for the Hopper3. All your major local channels will be carried over satellite.
The ATSC dongle is merely a gratuity from Dish for OTA reception as a backup , but now there is the streaming option.
And their current ATSC tuner isn't that great.

In the Hartford CT area over half of my OTA channels have no guide data. This is why I was happy when DISH added MeTV back as now I can record Svengoolie with guide data.

Maybe for you and probably some others but the only OTA channel I get guide data
for on DISH is the NBC channel

I would still have to call Dish if I wanted to upgrade from my Joey 2 to the Joey 4. Is the upgrade fee still 50.All of my Joeys are now Joey 4.0. The Dish Installer also asked about Surround Sound, which was on sale for 400.00. It was 600.00.

maybe a firmware upgrade to allow 3 hoppers to be connected to each other making it one big media center
add solar to the remotes so one don't have to keep replacing batteries
the red record light
allow the auto hop to work on every channel and not have to wait 24 hours
a hopper with an NVME drive that can support the trim function

The Joey 4 does 4K AND HDR.
One red recording light for 16 tuners??
Autohop IIRC has to be manually inserted into the video stream so it is supremely impractical to implement it on every channel and the wait times are imposed by the networks not Dishes choice.

don't understand why the want of hopper 3 & 4k joeys.........since there is little to no dish programming
