How to tell if my system is using satellite or streaming from Internet?

Another question related to this subject...

If (actually, I do) I stream with smart tv apps and external devices why should I keep Hopper connected to my modem?
The guide is downloaded with satellite and I don't use dish anywhere app when I travel to upload shows (saved in Hopper) to view them somewhere.
Is there any advantage having an Internet connection?

What does "internet protected " mean in this context.
It means that your locals do not switch automatically to internet download if the satellite signal is lost.
You have to have an OTA dongle hooked to an antenna and change the channel on the receiver to the OTA channel yourself.

There are a ton of "Bonus Channels" available that require an internet connection (90 through 98). Also there are many streaming only channels that require same.

While the stream is downloading the first indication is that you see momentarily is the round red wifi symbol if your H3 is connected via wifi. Ethernet connection, I don't know but it still has to load enough data to build the video frames which takes a couple of seconds, whereas satellite is usually much quicker.
All in all It really does not matter.as long as you get your programming.
Yes, the DISH logo when first tuned to the channel would show the streaming but in my case, I never have the box in standby so it's already tuned in to the channel for at least a few hours after the nightly reboot.

PLEASE LOG IN TO GET RID OF THESE ADS!

If you are lucky enough to get your locals on an antenna.
Believe I tried .When everything went digital I put up an expensive UHF only (that's where everything moved to in my area) rooftop Channel Master antenna with an amplifier. It's only about 35 miles as the crow flies but I'm at the bottom of a valley and a mountain is also in the way. One of the antenna sites says it will work with a 250 foot tower.I used to get CBS when it was analog VHF.It wasnt crystal clear but watchable if it was your only choice.
Pointing the other direction I get a bunch of PBS channels because there is nothing in the way.
