Seriously, lay off the crack. They might be bit starved, but I have to call BS when you claim that is why they label them now.

Crack huh? Well i would not know what thats all about? I was being a smart azz. Although i would like to think all of us with HD knows where the channels are and how they look. So why do you think they are adding the HD label?

So no mention of the possibility of controlling TV2 with the slingbox (pro)?

Also *selling* the USB HDD means we get a E* branded external HDD (probably 250GB and 500GB) with a special *tamper resistant* firmware so we can't extract video on a computer!

HDD lease fees I don't see happening, this will be treated more like a pocket dish.

Trust me they are working on this. :)

A lot of custom installers are also requesting this so they can stick all the receivers in one place in the house and control them via IR extenders. :)

Yeah, I thought adding the HD was stupid, too. Not like it's not in the channel name, or that we're not tipped off by the channel number range.

For the 94xx range it is useless, but it's nice to have in the OTA HD channels though, since some of mine are HD (big 4 from Washington) and some are not (minor ones, including CW, from Washington and Harrisburg stations).

I wish they couyld do like Expressvu, who actually puts HD in the program listing. in the 800 range, if a show is in HD, it will say CSI-HD instead of CSI.

Lets relax a bit -- my friend BlackHitachi was being sarcastic! Its ok to have a little fun when it comes to E*'s latest great ideas..

Sorry then... sarcasm doesn't come across too well on an internet forum. There are too many idiots who talk about the whole HD lite thing to the point that I just get tired of reading about it. Then I read this statement, with nothing pointing to sarcasm, that makes me believe he really thinks this...

So, once again, I'm sorry BlackHitachi.

Well, there was some good news. Glad to hear they're giving us split screen pip.

For HD I would have prefered a top/bottom split rather than side by side. A choice like we have on our computer screens via windows tiling would be even better.

I have emailed Dish and let them know the following:
1. I have been a subscriber for close to 9 years.
2. Durring that time I have spent over $15,000 in programming and equiptment.
3. Dish does not offer HD locals in my area.
4. Directv does offer HD locals in my area.
5. If Dish charges in ANY MANNER for USB external storage I am cancelling and going to Direct.

Enough is Enough
