SatelliteGuys Makes The Court Case

I am the counselor that all of you will lean on when your distant network addiction ends. :)

The first step on the road to recovery is to admit you have a problem. Because all non-believers will be in shock and awe once this is complete.

LoL! Sorry some are incurable. If they can't get their fix here there is a group of Canadians that will be happy to provide them what they need. I weened myself off DNS by adding a 622 and Portland HD locals, now I'm an HD-aholic. :D

RIAA/MPAA spokeman?

I know I am getting warm.....come on Greg....am I close?

They can serve anyone apparently. The lady I spoke to today asked me who I had service through when I called.

What do you think she would have said if you told her you have Directv or some cable company?

Edit- Just went back to read some earlier posts and saw the post quoting another post posted on another forum that when the poster (E* subscriber) called NPS to sign up for DNS he was told they couldn't give him DNS because his info wasn't in E* database. Hmmmmm!

I know, a Direct TV retailer from Maryland. How close is that!

Now Dishpointer....."Outing" is not something that good people do to other people. I figured he would come clean on his own terms in his own time.

Although, after review of Greg's posts on different forums back to 2002 I would be able to confidently say that there is a connection here........

Who handles your legal situations? Wouldn't it be nice to have and use an attorney and not worry about the cost! Ask me how.

How much would it cost to sue Greg for blatantly offering an egregious counterpoint?

I have a case!

Less sex because I am posting here = less life fulfillment = lower job performance = quirky IP telecom system at workplace = even less helpful Indian CSR's for company that you call = drop in technology stocks = failure of US Economy

I can circle the logic all back to Greg's posts!

If I may contribute something, I have just read the emergency injunction, and although I'm not a lawyer, these are the two legal points they are trying to make:

"Defendants may not nullify a decree by carrying out prohibited acts through aiders and abettors, although they were not parties to the original proceeding"

"An instigator of contemptuous conduct may not absolve himself of contempt liability by leaving the physical performance of the forbidden conduct to others."
Actually, this part of the document was fascinating to me - they gave three different legal decisions by judges that stated this in three different ways.

What is interesting is that all three judges are wrong.

A friend of mine had her drivers license suspended for six months. So, according to these three judges, every time her friends drove her to the supermarket to buy groceries, they were violating the law ! They were doing the "physical performance" of the forbidden conduct - driving her in her car !

Similarly, someone who is under house arrest is forbidden to leave to do anything. So, if anyone living in the house does it for them - they are breaking the law ! You can't bring groceries to someone under house arrest !

The concept is ludicrous, yet three judges cited it.

Sometimes the idea of the punishment is merely to prevent the perpetrator from personally having the priveledge of performing an action themselves (such as driving). Sometimes the idea of the punishment is to prevent the action from being performed, regardless of who does it. It is certainly not a "principle" than can be cited in all case.

The morale:

Authority figures go to incredible lengths to give you the false impression that they are more competent and knowledgeable than you.

BTW I was just showing my wife the court document and just notice they quoted me in the document with my line about Charlie being a great poker player and how he pulled a royal flush at the last moment.

IMHO, I think that it's good that Greg is posting his take on this subject. I don't know that he personally wants to see the Echostar satellites fall from the sky, but he is obviously reading the materials that have been filed and bringing us back to Earth in regards to the possibility that the NPS deal gets shot down.

As a DishNetwork customer, my personal stake in all of this is that Echostar does not: a) go out of business because of questionable activities; b) raise all of our rates to pay for fines and legal fees resulting from those activities; and c) lose the licenses for the transponders that they currently have and have applied for, reducing their ability to provide me, self-confessed HD addict and TV junkie, with my fix.

I'm rooting for Charlie & Co., but Echostar may have gone too far this time.

Back to topic, I guess I should feel honored that the new SatGuys logo is forever a part of the US Legal System... My Uncle would be proud!

Jeez, I go to bed at midnight, turn on the TV, see the chat going on and immeditatly started recording, stay up till 3 doing the recap... get maybe 5 hours sleep and wake up to this... I wouldn't have done it if I had thought the NAB was going to use...

I stayed up with dfergie in the chat room doing the uplink reports by the minute as they rolled down...JohnH was also hanging out with us too and few other fellas. I'm mad they didn't put my uplink reports in the court docs!! LOL!! ;)

Good post. I agree.

I was reading, (even arguing with:) ), Greg's posts at another site long before he came to SatGuys. We're damn lucky to have his expertise here.

Just because some here don't like to hear the truth is no reason to ostracize a guy. In fact it's downright small.

I'm sure the plaintiffs are quite dismayed that the judge did not make a declaratory ruling today especially after they brought to his attention that Charlie plays poker to win. Talk about grasping at straws !

Does E* offer CW HD?
