Court tv?

Tony, do you have any knowledge as to the programming presentation of this channel. I get a general idea from the name but was wondering if you have any detail. Thanks.

Check out the web site. Looks like some interesting forensics shows (not CSI garbage...real forensics)

Remember folks, this is still ONLY A RUMOR.

You mean like Viacom? This happened in '04 over Nicktoons. Viacomm wanted it on AT60 and Dish din't want it at all. Viacom said "add it or else." Dish unceremoneously removed Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, MTV Esnañol, Noggin, Nick, Nick W, Nick Gas, BET and 15 CBS affiliates were from the system from 3/9/04 to 3/11/04. Nicktoons is on AT180 now.

See http://echostaruser.com and look at the listlogs. :)

Anyone here upset about losing Court tv? I mean its not a bad channel i like it to watch cops, and other reality shows espically since they brought back the police chases and there all new. I was just wondering if anyone is upset about it?

Yes, I am upset about losing Court TV. So is my hubby. We enjoyed Forensic Files and a few other programs like it that are not on the other channels. We cannot stand reality court room programming of Nancy Grace, but Court TV did have some interesting stuff for us.

It's silly that Dish put Biography in the spot where Court use to be -- just means that we are getting 179 channels instead of 180.

Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, I'm resorting to watching some of the Forensic Files and Cold Case Files that we have recorded.

I wouldn't count on quick resolution. OLN was dark for six months last year. Speed and OLN were gone for over 2 years back around 2000. As others have mentioned, Charlie has not hesitated to pull the plug on channels when he doesn't get his way. Court will likely stay dark until the next round of negotiations for the Turner stuff.

After being a Dish Network customer since 1998, I am thinking of giving Direct TV a try.
I was holding off upgrading my 811 and 6000 to Mpeg 4 receivers but the Court TV thing may just be the incentive I need to give Direct a try.
Probably some pretty good deals for new Direct customers on HD equipment.

I'm hearing rumbles that DIRECTV customers might also be losing COURTV...can anybody verify?

It seems _plausible_ considering COURT TV was not in the short list I saw of the channels that DIRECTV has signed new programming agreements with.

If there is any truth to COURT TV/DIRECTV agreement, then COURT TV should put bullet in chamber, point gun at foot, and pull trigger, shooting foot. :D

if that was the case id seriously doubt court tv would be advertising on all the turner networks and their website to switch to direct tv or cable.if they were gonna lose direct they would say check with your local cable company. then again i could be wrong and court tv is trying to get their customers to drop lots of money on new equipment to find out that court tv is gone from them too.

Not much chance that DirecTv would lose Court Tv. The reason? - The parent company, Time Warner, owns Court Tv, DirecTv, TNT and many other television related businesses.

uhhhhh no news corp ( not time warner) sold directv to liberty media...

I really like court tv and want to know where to go to let it be known!!!! I may have to stop watching tv altogether.

Wow, there isn't one specific channel I would switch companies for. Especially a low end channel like Court-TV

Believe it or not, some people actually have different preferences than you and consider Court TV more than a 'low-end' channel. If I were in the market for a provider right now, i'd probably skip over DISH because of them not having this channel. My GF loves Court TV and now I have to rig something up using the basic cable before she cancels the DISH service.

out of the however many channels there are, there is someone who likes a certain channel. I am sure if Charlie took off the channel with the guy selling the gaudy gemstones and jewlry, someone would come on here and start griping about it...

That being said, Charlie and his peons has to look at how many people really watch a channel. Its not too hard to look at the nielsen ratings and find that out... If a channel wants more money than they are worth, then they have to go.

I used to love to watch courttv... But since Ive had HD, I dont think I have watched it once. Plus I think 90% of their shows are repeated on other channels.

I say get rid of the crap, get rid of the channels that run the same programs, and lower my bill.

I dont want to pay more for someone else's tv watching

And they did! When Shop At Home was removed after EW Scripps' sale of the channel assets there were a couple of threads started either here or the other site asking what happened to the channel. They wanted it back :D

They finally got their wish last week. Jewelry TV owns them
