SeaLaunch has set-back

Sealaunch which is scheduled to launch D* Direct11 satellite had a "anomly"
during today's launch of the NSS-8 Sat.

The Sea Launch Zenit-3SL vehicle, carrying the NSS-8 satellite, experienced an anomaly today during launch operations. All personnel are safe and accounted for. Sea Launch will establish a Failure Review Oversight Board to determine the root cause of this anomaly. Please call the Sea Launch hotline at 800.995.4123 for further information, as it becomes available.

well it was only a matter of time before sea launch had a "mishap"however i do wish to say i dont think its sea launchs fault rockets fail it happens nor do i beleve that this will end sea launch as a viable launch system . i do hope d has a back-up plan though

Maybe ILS will launch both Direct 10 & 11...I guess it depends on how much
damage was done to the launching ship..........

Would it not have to go Kaboom! more than once.Maybe that's why there's D10,D11,and D12.?

From what I have read they have only one active platform---the Ocean Odyssey. But perhaps they have something that can be used as a backup after it is brought to the launch area.

That may be so...I don't have any knowledge of it.....BUT one thing is certain...
they will not be doing any more launches with this particular rocket until they
find out a reason for the failure...too many "nervous" customers.

I would not condemn the model based on this occurence. They have only two models and the the alternative the Boeing Delta 4 has had it s share of problems too. I am sure they will use what they feel is best but don't condemn the rocket based on this occurence.

Not blaming or condeming this particular model at all...just trying to make the point that they will not launch it again till they understand what went wrong..remember
how long the stuttle was down until they checked it out?....and this model doe's
have a history you know..........
