Hello

I was wondering if anyone has had success with a motorized ViewSat Ultra. I understand ViewSat's motor control pretty much stinks and I read some posts on the Xtreme not working well (http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=88784&highlight=viewsat+motor). I was trying to find out if the same applies for the Ultra. As I understand it firmware version 1.2x doesn't work well in North America but 1.19 works ok.

Someone please tell me they had luck :) ... I don't want to go crazy trying to get it to work if it's virtually impossible.

Thanks
Sam

motorized viewsat ultra

Hi,

Works perfectly for me using the "user" setting instead of "USAL"
I believe it would work OK with USAL but I need to reset reorient
my mount and the weather has prevented me from doing so.

I have been following the recent posts on a couple sites about the newer viewsat models (ultra and pvr model) being much better with motors than past models. I just grabbed an ultra (see post in shack area bout my find if interested) and I just got a secondary motorized setup from sadoun's $1 auctions. I fully plan on testing my ultra's motor capabilities when I get a chance to get my new setup going.

Sadly, it might be a while with the weather like it is.

Dougruss that Ultra of yours that came with 1.22 firmware-will it do the AC3 sound , as in the PBS channels on AMC3? I've read that some of the newer boxes are shipping with that updated software, but viewsat has not made it available on their website. Just curious if they ever fixed the sound prob

Yes....I'm getting Audio (AC3) from the PBS channels with my Veiwsat "Ultra" !!

That is the only connection( S/PDIF [Optical] ) I use on it . Run it thru my Harmon Kardon A/V Receiver in my Hometheater Room.

Thanks Dougruss, the last time I called ViewsatUSA about that, 2 months ago, it "should be on the website in a week or so" But the 1.19 firmware is all thats up there for the Ultra. The techs in CA claimed it would be done by Korea, said they didn't do any software for the boxes here. Maybe it'll be up there this summer.

I've never seen the Ultra's utility but I know some FTA boxes let you download the BIN from the receiver to the PC for backup purposes. Maybe someone could check their's out.

I was going to suggest the same thing, but I am not really up to speed on the software yet. I use used the USB key to upload 119 to mine, no optionto save to USB that I saw, but maybe through the serial connection you can.

Also, for those interested and maybe have better luck than me, the 122 version that I searched around on seems to be mostly an update for asia stuff, but does seem to fix the AC-3 problem as mentioned.
