We have an HR20 hooked up to a 3 LNB dish, so we do not get high def locals via the satellite. We do receive high def locals on our OTA antenna and tune them on our HR20, however.

If we get a new 5 LNB dish, how will the HR20 display the local high definition channel logos, where you have, for instance, regular channel 8, local channel over-the-air 8.1 digital and local channel "8.1" digital rebroadcast via the dish?
Two 8.1 logos? In other words, how does the HR20 distinguish between a digital channel tuned via the antenna, and the same channel rebroadcast over the satellite?

Thanks.

Three Things Good About HR20

We still much prefer our older HR10-250 TiVo, but here are three very noticeable good things about the HR20 vs. the HR10:

1. The HR20 has a more sensitive OTA digital channel tuner generally, and pulls in one VHF digital local channel much better than our HR10.

2. You can get used to watching either live TV or a recorded replay in a sub-window while you use HR20 menu or other programming functions-the HR20 does not cut off what you are watching in order to use most programming functions as does TiVo software.

3. When it works, the HR20 is much faster than the HR10.

Things you miss when you give up TiVo are well documented. We miss TiVo dual buffers the most, probably (I miss being able to watch two buffered shows at once simply by hitting 'Live TV.'). Generally, the hardware on both machines is comparable, but we prefer the TiVo software interface on the HR10-the HR20 will do almost everything the HR10 TiVo will do-it just usually is a little more tortured to get there. Mrs. Camper still can't figure out the HR20 and does not care to learn, alas. The TiVo remotes, she just long ago picked up and used right away.

You will have two channel 8's one HD and one SD. Your OTA channel will be 8.1 etc.

One of you channel 8's will look like dt8 which is usually the SD channel and the other one will show the call sign of the TV station, this one will be the HD one...

Hope that helps...
