I just got off the phone with D*. They tell me with an mpeg4 box that I will get YES hd! That's the good news. The bad news is I don't have an H20 or HR20. Can anyone in the CT area confirm this? Please note your zip code if you don't mind. Not you Hancox, you don't count! ;)

they didn't happen to tell you how far they expanded it, did they? i'm just curious. i wouldn't expect that meant nationally!!

Can't answer your question, but I would go for it if they offer you a deceint deal, the MPEG4 set up is going to be needed soon anyway :)

No, but there is a report on dbstalk.com of someone in Canada getting it, although he swears it is an mpeg2 CONUS signal AND on channel 622. I wouldn't think the spot beam would go that far north, but I also don't think it is CONUS yet.

if yes is carrying an hd feed of the yanks-a's game this afternoon, i'll try channel 622 and see what happens. if its hd, i'll post!!

Do you have an H20 or HR20 and 5 lnb dish? If so, do you show two 622's in your guide?

You're not going to see HD on ch. 622 unless you have 2 ch. 622s and one is designated "YES-H", or "YESH", or "YES-HD", however it appears in the Guide for those in a MPEG-4 coverage area.

Did they tell you which channel to look for it in the guide? I have an H20 with 5 LNB and just looked in the 600's and the 70's thru the 90's and didn't see any listing for YES HD. Only have one 622. I'll check again at game time. BTW - zip 06716.

That's not what I wanted to hear! :( Seems like the information I got is wrong. RATS! Maybe something will change soon.

raoul, to answer your question....i have both the h20 and hr20. a few weeks ago, i had 2 channel 622's in my guide. recently, it has only been one. but with directv, you never say never!!

i am in milford 06460. i have the 5lnb and h20 and no yes/sny/nesn hd at this time. for a while there was two 622/623/625 and i was hoping but no luck. really sucks that are rsn are in hd, d* carries them, and we dont get them. that local spotbeam story is crap. i am close enough to ny to receive sig-view locals so why not my rsn.

Here's a big surprise. After talking with a tier 2 tech, they tell me that YES hd isn't available here in CT yet. I am shocked.

big, huge shock....not. and i still only have 1 channel 622. lets hope when the next sat goes up, the rsn's won't be spot beamed anymore. then, if we get a sports sub, we see all the hd games in hd. of course, directv will probably jack up the price!!

Well, at least the game is on ch 95 today. With the NY spot beam signal in the 60's at my place I wish they would just turn YES HD. At least a part time signal (in good weather) is better than none at all!

I was pleasantly surprised to see this. I don't subscribe to the HD package anymore so I thought I would only get the local channels in HD (since I sub. to this package). Is this just a mistake or will I always have the Yes HD feed? I was actually going to get the HD package for the baseball season but if I don't need to for Yes HD I of course won't. Thanks.

Channel 95 will change games depending on what D* decides to show, you may find baseball one day, hockey the next ect. So to answer your question, NO the Yankees willnot be on there (95) regularly, but you may find them on often, guess I'm asaying no guarentees, but always check.
They should be in the 600's last I knew (HD), but they've been changing things around so much, it's hard to see a true pattern.

If Milford's not getting this, this looks like a big fat no, at least for CT. I've kept track of the threads on this, and the people spouting off "elsewhere" are Albany area - so this may be an expansion north, and not east.

That being said:

1) I still don't see this happening en masse until the new birds go up, unless D* pulls an encoding change out from nowhere. Sorry.
2) What's weird is - most of the CT people impacted are close enough to the existing NY spotbeam (i.e. that HAS to cover all of Long Island), this really shouldn't be an issue at all.

The RSD HD issue, in general, continues to be a head-scratcher for everyone.

Absolutely right, Hancox. I used the LI example with them to point out how easily they could add all of CT. LI goes as far east as RI!
