Regional Sports Pak in HD?

I live in Hawaii and we get the shaft as far as HD content. I have the vip622.

Once some of the regional sports networks (NESN, other Fox Sports nets) are in HD on Dish Network, will it be available in HD via the Regional Sports Pak? In other words, can I watch HD content in New England (of course, not MLB since that's preempted) from Honolulu?

Anyone have info on any more content that Hawaii will be getting in HD? So far we only get ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, HDnet, HD Movies, Discovery, UniversalHD and HBO. Not a whole lot! We get the channels on a 129 spot beam and some on 110.

No, not New England teams, but yes, some regional games if you're in an area claimed by the team as being in it's "home television territory". For Hawaii, I don't know what teams those are. Try http://dish.fxep.com, enter your zipcode, and that'll tell you the teams and the RSNs that carry them. Fox West and Prime Ticket are showing HD games on Dish as of a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the response

We only get Fox Sports Net West as our Fox sports channel out here on Dish Network (even though the local cable company provides Fox Sports Net AND Prime Ticket).

I don't see Fox Sports Net West in HD anywhere. What channel number would that be? What satellite is it on? We get our spot beamed HD channels on 129. A few HD channels are on 110. We get our regular channels from 119. So if FSNW is not on any of those satellites, I guess we're out of luck, again.

Fox West HD is on 129, transponder 8, channel 367. I guess that's only a CONUS transponder. Sorry, guess I misled you.

So the regional sports chs. are in the 300s?

I'll have to go check to see if I can see any of them on my guide. Again, Hawaii gets the shaft. I don't think the Dodgers or Angels show their games in HD anyway. But I want to see Pac-10 college football games on Fox Sports Net in HD (usually they do 1 a week) -- do I have any hope of that here in Hawaii?

Also, is Dish Network planning on expanding the local HD market?

Is there a way I can get the L.A. market for locals here in Hawaii? I'd rather just get the L.A. or S.F. locals than the Honolulu locals (which is only like 6 channels anyway!). Mahalo for answering all my questions!

Will

JohnH - thanks, where did you hear this?

I haven't seen any evidence that E* has Hawaii locals in HD. Have a nice weekend everyone. I'm really glad I found this board. Emailing Dishnetwork is usually a fruitless endeavor, although occassionally it works.

The info is contained in the Uplink Activity report and there has been at least one subscriber reporting them active. ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, MNT and PBS.

In 2009 all OTA broadcasts will be digital. Nothing said about HD. Nothing said about satellite or cable channels.
