Im in the Houston market which Comcast recently took over from Time Warner. I have satellite but would consider getting digital cable however the deal break for me was last time the basic cable channels were still analog and its very noticeable. Has comcast started to or does anyone know when they will begin to migrate everyone off of analog to digital and require boxes? Also, do they have any dual tuner Hd boxes which can record 2 HD shows at once?

Finally, do they have any firm announced plans on which HD channels they will be adding? Their HD lineup is pretty shotty here in Houston, its just the original basic HD channels, pretty much what DTV is offering until they get their new sats up.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Most all cable areas do "Digital Simulcasting" Meaning they have both analog and digital. If you have abox EVERY channel will be digital for you, if you dont have a box youll see it analog. So it lets you have Digital on the tvs you want to pay for it on, and analog on the rest. The best bet is to call to see if they do simulcasting or no, in that market

Your question re: analog vs digital has already been answered. Your other question depends on the market. Yours may be different if it was very recently taken over from TW, but almost all Comcast markets offer either a Motorola 2HD tuner DVR or a Scientific Atlanta 2HD tuner DVR.

As for HD lineup, I'm sure they'll probably be adding more. Comcast has been very good about adding HD content as their bandwidth improves (you'll also have access to On Demand once they convert completely to their system). Expect them to try their best to keep up with DirecTV and Dish by expanding bandwidth via slow elimination of the simulcasted analog channels and implementing new technology like SDV.

All of your questions though are best answered by you calling your local Comcast and asking those same questions.
