National HD Channel Roll-Out Plans

What happends to the NFL Pack HD channels when Febuary gets Here? What about the MLB channels in HD when Baseball is over. I'm sorry but I have to agree with many on the not counting sports packs.

This is true for both providers. By my count right now, I have 32 full-time HD channels (38 tomorrow), plus 4 LiLs, add to that. (I could also add in 4 OTA channels). With the multi-sport pack (which I don't have) it would be up to about 50 already. And in my count, I left out the NBAHD channel and the HDDEV channel.

I think the count for both should be broken into full-time channels, and then a second list of part-time (almost always) sports channels. Obviously with MLB and NFL and after the new bird goes operational, DirecTV is always going to have a lead in those categories.

For the majority of consumers, its the full-time channels - and the race between the providers to continue to add them - that will matter the most; and where we will all benefit.

I don't count them on E* either.

So how many Full-Time HD channels will each one have by the end of the year?

I know E* will have at least 41 for me. FULL TIME.Thats all I've seen thats confirmed.
Directv I counted 59 Thats including the RSN's because I think the are full time. If not -10

So are we counting to ever-repeating Voom as full-time stuff for Dish? If so, why? That was mostly rhetorical; really who cares?

Oh come on, there are others we could eliminate if we use that rationale. UHD for one.

Whether you like them or not, Voom channels offer full-time HD programming.

They are not FULL-time. FOXRM has a game every few days. Some are better than others, but hard to say they are full time.

As Network feeds are very important to me, I say as of tomorrow I have 46 HD channels; (4 Lils and 4 diffrerent OTAs). I am generally a happy HD camper. :)

I count it ,Its full time Right,Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it can't be counted. If thats the case then Directv only has 2 HD channels and E* 4. Really come on now! Full time channels.NOT FAVORITE CHANNELS.

I changed that I will have 41 confirmed.Someone will have to let me know on D* rsn's in HD being full time. I know E*'s HD RSN's aren't.

From the above listed site - HUH?

Welcome to StopHDLite.com
HDTV is considered as 1920x1080i or 1280x720p Resolutions with Bitrates of 19.4Mbps
No TV Service Provider should not Downgrade the signal, Call & Complain
HDTV is also considered with an Max Resolution of 1920x1080p Which is the future of HDTV Broadcasts, With ESPN-HD switching to the 1920x1080p format soon
********* Some Channels listed below might not be available in your area, Check with the provider for more details ********

The full-time nature is really more about the fact that the RSNs don't broadcast all of their events in HD; thus they are part-time. I don't see how it could be any different on DirecTV than on Dish. Its the regional sports networks that make it part time.

A head's up to someone who doesn't have much HD yet: HD repeats a lot. Especially on channels that broadcast 100% HD all the time.

You may well kick yourself when D* gets panicky for HD content and adds VOOM.

True but then you couldn't count A&E or ESPN,or NFL.If they have full time programming ,IMO It counts.

Huge difference: those channels have stuff on them all the time; sometimes HD sometimes SD upconverts. BUT RSNs have a screen-saver, sometimes for days at a time. To me that is not a small difference.

The previous post is very accurate: there is a lot of repeating on HD channels. Then again, this is true on most "cable" channels (what I call them) too.

I actually like and used to watch some of the Voom channels. I think the problem is not that Directv wouldn't show them, its the all or nothing package that they are probably presented with. I would want to cherry pick them and toss the other half. So maybe if Voom allows that, then maybe it has a chance to show up on Directv.
