This. ☝️ They got out the big coffin nails; DRM, internet requirements, viewer tracking, ridiculous patent fights and no tuner mandate. Oh, and not enough OTA programming anymore to even make it worth the average consumer's time, trouble & expense. And 4K was just an empty pie-in-the-sky...

Innovative DTV Solutions DPT170D+ 7-Inch Portable Digital TV costs a tad more but it has much higher resolution than the cheap Haiers, etc. Much easier to see/read. Read the reviews on Amazon. If you want a new one, they're cheaper on eBay.

The OTA (OverTheAir) module requires an OTA antenna. Depending on where you live, it may be something as simple as a VHF/UHF indoor antenna, or outdoor antenna. It's great to be able to record 4 things at once and OTA provides a good backup if the sat goes out in heavy rain storm.

Same here. I live in a fringe area, on the edge of two markets. So I won't switch to Dish until they come out with decent OTA tuner in a DVR.

This is a huge disappointment. Why can't Dish have a decent OTA tuner?

Not exactly. Some stations have still been analog only up until now and are flash cutting to DTV on their old analog frequency.

What's the difference/advantage in the "K" model?

The previous posts were discussing KETS-DT, which serves Little Rock and is currently on Lowband VHF channel 5. It suffers from horrible impulse noise interference. In Feb., it is moving to Highband VHF channel 7, and will likely have the same problems, although possibly on a lesser scale...

Except during area lightning events and other impulse noise interference like light switches, motors, etc., that mucks with OTA DTV on VHF (even high band VHF).

What is an NI ?

That's up to you to buy it or not.

They aren't channels. They're sub channels - something piggybacked onto the main channel. DirecTV doesn't have unlimited satellite capacity. It you want subs, connect an antenna.
