    New to FTA

I'm in PA and I just started using my FTA dish after about a year of not using it. I scanned in about 50% of the satellites I can pick up with a 90cm dish and I think the count was around 400. What you have to understand about FTA is that most of the channels are feeds, religious, or non-english...

    Homebrew FTA Receiver?

These are just the initial comments from a nobody on these forums, so take it for what it's worth (near nothing). My degree is in electronics engineering, but it's the digital side. I haven't a clue on the analog/RF side of things. Also, I'm a software developer. I could do a custom receiver...

Transponder: How to catch them all

I was aware that sometimes only part of a transponder are used, but I thought maybe the symbol rate of the transponder was fixed and by renting part of a transponder they rented part of the mux on that transponder. Another way of describing what I thought is that the transponder is configured...

Transponder: How to catch them all

My questions: 1. Is there a satelliteguys channel master project or something that has all of the transponders for all of the US viewable satellites? 2. Is such a project useful to anyone? 3. Is there a better way to scan (than blind scan) without having to create a tp list from lyngsat on my...

    Compass you look through?

I had a professional install my 85cm dish (on a DMSi SG2100) at my new residence last year. He claimed at the location the dish was installed that I should have line of sight from AMC 6 (72.0W) to AMC 7 (137W). He used a compass type device that you look through and it shows elevation as well...

    Coolsat IKS Dongle

As long as it's possible to force updating of the channel/sat/tp lists from the ethernet->serial converter (without modifying the receiver's firmware) then I suspect this would be very possible and actually not very difficult. I'm aware you can reprogram your FTA box using channel master via...

Need FTA help from South Korea

The only LNB that I'm aware of that does both linear and circular is the Invacom Qph-031. It's a little larger than other LNBs, but it should do what you need. As far as HD from a linear sat, the real magic is in the receiver. The receiver needs to be able to play back high def as well as...

    G26 signal strengths

I haven't really watched tv/messed with my dish for a couple months, but I noticed this same problem 2 nights ago. I could get Macy's, but CBS newspath was much lower... in fact it was around a Q of 3-5, which basically made it impossible to watch. I don't recall what it used to be, but it was...

    Invacom L/C LNB + SG-2100 + SV-4000 Issues

Only sat I'm having probs with video on I believe is G11, I'll have to double check. On my receiver a Q of about 15 and up seems to mean stable video, but below that, like on G11 it breaks up. Of course there's still lots (between 72 and 123) I've not been able to tune in yet.

    Invacom L/C LNB + SG-2100 + SV-4000 Issues

    So far I've managed to find quite a few sats. I guess I was just searching through them too fast (and using incorrect transponders). Are these qualities about right or is my dish not aligned well? Deg - Sat - Q 72 - AMC6 - 46 74 - G17 - 46 79 - AMC5 - 47 82 - NIMIQ2 - 99 83 - AMC9? - 63 85...

    Invacom L/C LNB + SG-2100 + SV-4000 Issues

AMC4 has a few channels where I get the audio, but no video doesn't break up at all. It also has a few religious channels where both video and audio work. Although when I'm in the sat setup the Q is 0, once I go to channels the Q is around 40 - 60. I've also managed to pick up AMC1. It shows...
