I had the exact dilema recently. The installer just put the 2" pole over the top and screwed them together in 3 places. Extremely sturdy, you shouldn't have any problems. The only issue was the pole was a little bitter taller now because they didn't have a hacksaw to cut it down to size. Oh...

I recently had to leave Dish and was told a box and shipping label would be sent to me to return my box/remotes, etc. Does anyone know how long this typically takes? I want to get this stuff back to them so they can reverse the charges on my card. Thanks!

Interesting. I'll let you know what I find out. I work in customer service and there is always a way to adjust things on a bill despite what a rep might tell you. Whether it be "past the screen" to do that or "too late" There is always a way.
