    Local dispute

Can't speak for UVerse, or Fios for that matter, but anecdotally, DirecTV settles carriage disputes far more quickly than DISH. Hearst-owned channels have been out on that service for more than a month, and no end seems in sight. DirecTV lost Hearst channels for a week in January.

MLB Extra Innings not worth it anymore.

It is the same for the NHL -- they're using the MLB engine and architecture. The picture is crystal clear, and I appreciate being able to watch the Canadian telecasts. The NBA, not so much. Their picture is still inferior, at least on my Roku box.

MLB Extra Innings not worth it anymore.

Yes, this is an advantage, if that's what you're into. But MLB.TV allows you to start a game telecast from scratch if you're not there to watch it live. For me, I can't tell the difference between MLB.TV picture quality and DirecTV feed. PQ has improved on an order of magnitude since being...

Hearst Television Inc. blacks out DISH customers in 26 markets

Hearst and DirecTV settled within 7 days. It's been 2 weeks with Dish, with no end in sight.

    Madam Secretary

Yes, this season has been weaker than last, owing to the loss of the conspiracy theory arc. But the show runners probably realized that they couldn't jump start another when they closed it last season. Usually, a series like this needs three seasons to hit its stride.

Hearst Television Inc. blacks out DISH customers in 26 markets

Local TV stations, and the companies that own them, still bask in the bliss of protectionist federal legislation. Which means they can offer crappy signal, vapid public affairs and preempt network affiliate programming at will without any retribution at all -- unless local advertisers abandon...

Hearst Television Inc. blacks out DISH customers in 26 markets

DirecTV got this fixed within days. If history is a guide, this will likely take weeks.

    Possible MLB Rule Change

I hate the way sports in general are being rejiggered to become as perfect as the video games that simulate the real thing.

    Possible MLB Rule Change

I remember in the 1972 World Series an Oakland A's pitcher struck out a Cincinnati Reds batter on an apparent intentional walk. I also remember uncounted wild pitches on intentional walks. It's taking something away from the game to save a couple of seconds.

    Possible MLB Rule Change

Good point. So limit the number of pitchers you can carry on your 25-man roster from game to game, say 10. You can have more pitchers above this limit but some would have to sit out like hockey's "healthy scratches."

    Possible MLB Rule Change

If you really want to shorten the length of games, limit the number of pitchers you can use. Five pitching changes in one inning? Really?

Free Preview of NHL Center Ice

Nice to have the free preview, but it won't change my mind on how I watch hockey. I've had the league's streaming service for two seasons, and I couldn't be happier with the picture quality and availability. Allows you to start from the beginning of a game or go live, just like MLB's. (I believe...

Have Sat TV - Who provides your internet service.

That was my argument for bundling with Mediacom two years ago -- they saved me about sixty dollars a month. But two years later I have unbundled and gone back to DirecTV and Vonage although I stayed with Mediacom for internet because there's no reasonable broadband alternative in my Des Moines...

    SNL

Hadn't watched SNL in decades until Alec Baldwin started doing Trump. Now it's must-see TV in our house.

    Madam Secretary

There's no hard-edged story arc the way there was a season ago, appealing characters aren't getting blown up, and Henry isn't getting himself into mortal danger or needing to make life-altering decisions. Wonder if that came from the network or if the writers just decided to pull back. Whatever...
