4K will pretty much only be available through IPTV or streaming systems, so I think this is more future-proofing the Joey for the inevitable IPTV move and to get 4K content now from partners like Netflix.

That's all dependent on your Internet connection. I have a 30/5 connection and HD tv episodes start on my Roku within 5-10 seconds. Never buffers. I've had the exact same Roku XD for about a year and a half. Great little machine. If it had Disney content. I could drop Dish.

Have you ever even watched any of AMC's original programming? It all rivals HBO, and they have the Emmys to show for it. This plus the Hopper upgrade debacle has me saying bye-bye to Dish once I clear out my DVR.

I've been reading about people saying that you can't have a VIP receiver with the Hopper system. What does that mean for people who have the Tailgater system and activate a VIP 211k for 3 months a year?

I'm running into a similar problem with the DIRT team, except I'm out of contract. I've been on Auto-Pay the whole time, so it's not like I've missed a payment.

You can enable/disable them at any time. And then you can sell the hardware when the next generation comes out or when you cancel DISH. It's the same monthly fee, though.
