    Upgrade and Account Changes Questions

Sorry, just realized I made a typo: the two DVR's are a 522 in my son's room and a 622 in my family room.

    Upgrade and Account Changes Questions

I have been a Dish subscriber since late 2006. I currently have two DVR's, a 625 and 522. In terms of programming I have AT250 ($64.99), HD 250 ($10.00), HBO ($16.00), HD Platinum ($10.00). For the DVR's I have two charges, $17.00 for Duo DVR and $6.00 for DVR Service. What I would like to do...

    722/622 Tuners Could be Smarter

The real problem is the source networks with respect to their notion of time. The way to solve this problem is generally to ensure their notion of time is synchronized to authoritative time services (e.g., GPS, atomic clock in Boulder, CO, etc). I can't possibly imagine these days this would be...

    Overall 922 Assessments?

Thank you everyone for your advice and insight. :)

    922 Always Offline

Send me your 922 and I'll gladly sniff the traffic! :D Seriously, has anyone sniffed the heck out of the 922's traffic and performed an analysis?

    922 Always Offline

I haven't seen a router in well over 10 years that doesn't have a static IP reservation capability based on MAC address under DHCP! Agree with someone else, time to get a new router.

    Overall 922 Assessments?

Hi all, I have been watching the 922 escapades for several months now since it was released. Even after this amount of time that has gone by it still seems that this is not ready for true prime time for what appears to be a multitude of reasons, including, but not limited to: unreliable...

    Thinking of Switching to Dish

I didn't know that MS had their own DVD rip container format (not surprised however). For me, I rather stick with industry standard formats. Nevertheless, even with MS' container no transcoding is a good thing (storage is dirt cheap so I really don't care about running out of room on a disk...

    Thinking of Switching to Dish

I prefer XBMC simply because of it's advanced features... fortunately my wife finds it easy to use as well. I wouldn't mind eliminating an HTPC but one of my requirements is to be able to stream my DVD ISO rips stored on my server (a 360 can't do that). I doubt the 922 would too.

    Thinking of Switching to Dish

True (just like in my opinion WMC is crap). When was the last time you used XBMC? And granted, it still has some issues (but not many any longer).

Can I add another external hard drive for free?

I'm personally very happy with the EHD with Dish and had no problem ponying up the $40 activation for the capability when it first offered. Many TV providers are no where even close to this today (which is one reason I continue to stay with Dish). Now... has anyone thought about connecting a...

Whats Dish going to charge me for a 722?

Doesn't it bother anyone that Dish should know exactly what you have and that there is a difference between different receiver/DVR model numbers? Does it not bother anyone that your upgrade price depends on how much Dish values you as a customer (hmmm... seems like something that could be...

    Thinking of Switching to Dish

Yes, but only if it is scheduled to be aired again. Probably not... why not just make your life even easier (and more flexible) and ditch Windows Media Center altogether? Replace it with XBMC on a dedicated HTPC (such as an Acer Aspire Revo) and you'll probably be way happier...

922's EHD's to be DISABLED tonight.

Amen brother on both counts! But more than 100 people for an open beta is a better route to go. I'm just sick and tired of Dish (and pretty much every other company) using their consumer bases as their true field beta testers instead of a proper engineering quality assurance program! Now...

922's EHD's to be DISABLED tonight.

While I don't have a 922, I routinely copy the contents of external HDD to my SAN (good old Linux ext3 filesystem)... so maybe you and others should consider that? (and yes, I have performed full restores and never have had an issue - even when I upgraded to a 1 TB external HDD for my DVR). Just...
