EchoStar Files Suit Over FTA Boxes

This time, a commentary from a Multichannel News writer... Getting a "Free" Bird A few questions: 1. More than two million? 2. Since when was "Blackbird" an actual vendor? 3. How many of the listed vendors actually sell much in North America?

EchoStar Files Suit Over FTA Boxes

Quite honestly, I love reading about cable and satellite hacking; I own John McCormac's (now outdated) book about scrambling methods as well as some old issues of Scrambling News, and I periodically read the hacking sites. It's always fascinated me from a technical perspective. But my...

Need a FTA Receiver with DVR

I can pretty much guarantee that the Conaxsat was geared to the hacker market, because when I called for tech support, I was asked several times if I was using it for FTA. Also, one of the options for an LNB is "Dish Pro," and at least one review of the box includes at least a couple of...

    Looks like Equity is down

FWIW, the other station still up, KKFQ, was sold to Fisher a while back. Doesn't look like an accident that the only two stations still up, KTWO and KKFQ, are no longer owned by Equity. :(

    Looks like Equity is down

Crap. And I just bought another receiver. Well, unless these come back or I can find a way to get IA5/G25 without drilling more holes into my condo, there'll be a new-in-box Conaxsat PVR in the For Sale area soon. :(

    Converting DirecTv to FTA

One thing you should be able to use is the pole -- something I learned thanks to this forum. :-) I got hold of a Winegard DS2076 dish (76 cm), removed the DirecTV dish, and put the Winegard on the same pole. Then I added a Coolsat 5000 via a deal promoted here, and I was off to the races.

    My ITVN experience

The callback promises and the no-we-can't-credit-oh-wait-yes-we-can thing happened after the changeover -- just in the past couple of days, in fact. That said, the change of control may explain why they seem to be having issues with the billing system. If it was inherited, maybe they don't...

    My ITVN experience

Today, I canceled my ITVN service after having been a subscriber since the summer. The reasons: - Shortly before I signed up, I called to ask if the news channels then promoted on ITVN's web site as forthcoming actually were forthcoming. I was told that yes, they were, "very soon." It...

Almost no signal on G10R - dish size?

Obviously something moved it, and whatever it was, it didn't take much. Luckily I can walk out to my balcony with the TV turned toward the door to check the signal strength! Thanks to everyone for the help. To think that without all of you, I'd still have a DirecTV dish sitting out there...

Almost no signal on G10R - dish size?

Never before did I wish I'd had three hands. ;-) Turned out that changing the elevation did the trick. I'm now getting 90-98% quality on 11805 and fluctuating between 70-97% on the Equity muxes. Any ideas why it suddenly changed with the weather? I don't recall any really heavy wind that...

Does anyone know of an HD receiver

The Pace and Humax also don't do 4:2:2 while the Quali-TV does.

Almost no signal on G10R - dish size?

Back. Yeah, leaning into it does change the signal quality, but I still can't get above 63-64 at the moment. Changing the skew doesn't let me raise it either. I'm also now getting some breakup on the 11805 channels since it became dark outside -- not sure if that even makes sense but it's what...
