Does anyone out there know aN HD FTA satellite receiver? I'm looking for one so I may pickup the PBS HD feed off of AMC 3 DVB MPEG-2/HD feed. It looks like I may be moving to an area that doesn't have a PBS HD channel.

other than a PC card or the DVB world box (which gets hooked to a computer via a USB port) the only HD FTA box is the Quali-TV 1080

going price...around $700

You must be moving to Georgia. There is a PBS channel in the Atlanta market (the only one in the state) with HD capabillities, but the Atlanta/Fulton County Board of Education can't afford any programming. It'll probably be 2 years before Georgia Public Broadcasting will even get a station (out of 9) with any kind of digital signal.

Here are a couple of places you might find the Quali-tv QS1080IR receiver:

Good Luck!

Thnx

Thanks for the info. Wonder why there is no call for a unit on this side of the pond? The Sky box thanks for info but I believe that they have to have an access card that is authorized before the box will run.

i believe it wont work due to that it was an DirecTv unit, which does not "talk"with DVB Mpeg2 which FTA uses, DTv uses thier own DSS signal, and the HD tuner that is in that STB is for DTv and OTA ATSC, but i could be wrong

I don't think the Humax, Pace, etc work here since we use NTSC. No mention of support for that anyway. That's why I went with the Quali-TV.

I love this thing. Just finished watching the last Nascar race of the season in HD, without any commercials. I should have done this a long time ago. :up

But the Qualitv doesn't blind scan? Have to do the scanning on the regular DVB receiver and then punch in the frequency, polarity, etc. into the Qualitv, right?

No blindscan on the Qualitv, and you do have to punch in the freq. and s/rate
but, it is best piece of equipment I ever purchased
for this hobby.

on european units make sure they are HD ATSC compatible, most countries outside the US are using other HD format standards. also RF outputs could be in PAL and or SECAM, etc. plus 50 hz, instead of 60.
