How important is Skew for a Dish 500 Install... thinking of using a VOMM Dish

If your Dish500 skew is 90 it isn't important at all. Otherwise you do need to skew the dish. Without skew you will be pointing high for one satellite and low for the other. You will most likely be able to get only one satellite without skew. JL

Dish Network channel 101 going Interactive

Odd. The only thing I have seen on 101 is a graphic that LOOKS like an interactive menu. Ocassionally I see one of those "interactive TV" graphics like E* plays in their cross channel commercials ("Press SELECT for Starz" kind of message). That "Enhanced TV" feature has been available for years...

DP 34 and DP 21 switches and 4 satellites

That worked for me (before I sprung for the DP44 and now have five slots :D ). Make sure you have a receiver connected directly to the switch. The switch needs power and the DP21 doesn't pass enough to power the DP34. Also, as seen in the diagram, make sure the single dish is on the "Dish...

Possible to pick up DISH Network in England?

NO IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. The footprint just doesn't go to the UK. You could use a SETI dish and still not get 61.5 Rainbow1 and Echostar3. JL

Significantly Viewed is HERE for Baltimore and Albany GA

I just wish they would have done better. Two major errors: 1) Grade B should have been used, not just the SV list 2) The rules for changing the SV list should not have been locked in the past Congress tied the FCC's hands. JL

Not true VOD, not yet. But fake VOD is on its way. JL

I'm sorry, but laws are written by Congress, And you are asking for LOGIC? :D Satellite can: * Carry every full power channel within each local TV market to service addresses within the same market (with the exception of channels that selected "Consent to Carry" and have failed to come to...

    EchoStar-Rainbow

They had good reason to block the D*/E* merger. They would have to come up with a good reason to prevent this sale - and there just isn't a good reason. JL

How do I switch TV 2 to Channel 2-3?

Have you noticed that some towns have a Wal*Mart and others have a Wal-Mart? Before I say "any decent department store should have them" I have to try to remember the last time I bought one - or saw a TV with screw connections that wasn't old. Parts like a "300 ohm adapter" are going the way...

    Locals and Distant Net Choice

Thanks to the latest version of the law, SHVERA, that is too true. The sat provider must notify their subscribers within 60 days of locals being first offered in their community and give the customer the choice of distants OR locals. 47 USC 338 (h) as created by SHVERA (h) ADDITIONAL NOTICES...

    129 is ALIVE AGAIN!

BTW: Skew is unimportant on single DBS satellite dishes, so Azimuth 170.3 on a magnetic compass and an elevation of 34.8 would be the important numbers. JL

    Is Bloomberg Free This Week?

At this point I have one 301 and one 501 with the mosaic (and the audio works correctly on the 501) and one 301 that does not have it yet. If you don't have it be patient - it is coming to most receivers. JL

Re: Channel Numbers Eventually most all the high end UHF channels will go away. The FCC wants most of the 50's and all of the 60's back for land mobile uses. But that is eventually - today the 70's, 80's and 90's are free (although the 90's could end up being distant HDs, so don't waste them on...
