I believe I read somewhere that Dish Network HD-DVR's use about 47 watts on or off. Now take all the HD-DVR's that are running 24 hours and the amount of power to run these DVR's is alot.

It would be nice to see a adjustment in the menu to adjust lip sync forward or backwards in milliseconds. Just like a right/left adjustment for the HD picture.

Since this site is loaded with good people with alot of satellite knowledge how about the risk to our investments in receivers and monthly programming. Does Dish Network have any spare satellites in orbit if a main satellite is unable to survive a solar storm?

Glad to see Dish Network is finally going online with their receivers. Both of my Vip-622's are already connected to my home network. This broadband upgrade will bring a much faster two way connection between Dish Network and our receivers.

I just had a Dish Network 1500 dish set up last Sunday and I have noticed lower signal strength across the board on all the satellite positions. So far I have had no rain to see how signal strength will hold up to a heavy downpour. But I do have the 1500 set up to survive a close tornado.

I was also told today the new channels will be MPEG-2 and my 6000 receiver will see the new Feb 1st HD channels. This is the reason I am not clear on the 6000 future.

Called today because my 6000 is going dead again. Dish Network HDTV tech help tells me my replacement 6000 will receive the new channels on Feb 1st. I asked Dish tech why this information is different than what Charlie said on the HD chat. The tech person verified with two other supervisors...
