    Dishanywhere on TV?

Good to hear on the firestick. What phone/tablet are you using to cast?

    Dishanywhere on TV?

The internet service is shared among the condos and streaming won't work at night. The wifi within the condo is probably OK. I have seen mixed comments about dishanywhere working with the firestick and Amazon making things difficult. I do plan to try out an Android tablet with chromecast, but...

    Dishanywhere on TV?

Hi, I would like to take recordings on vacation to watch in the condo we rent. I successfully transferred several test programs to my iphone and got them to play well. The problem is getting them to the TV. I saw in an early 2018 thread that Dish ahd disabled the ability to connect to the TV...

Western Digital discontinuing at least one version of 2TB NAS red drive

I am just now upgrading to a Hopper and thought that I would upgrade my EHD to a USB 3.0. I decided to put an internal drive in a cooled enclosure. Doing lots of research, I found that the WD red NAS drives are the most frequently recommended drives for DVRs and I have had the best luck with...

Signal strength on sat 129 (west arc)

Hopefully this is my last question before I talk with Dish about the upgrades. To determine if I need a tech to install our new equipment, I wanted to check the status of our dish accuracy because re-pointing is the only part that I would not do myself. We have had some loss of signal at times...

    Typical bill

Hi Tritron, I am no expert on the promo deals, but I can tell you that taxes are pretty minimal. Our bill totals about $121 and total taxes run $2.73. We are in Broomfield. Jerry

Switching from VIP722k's to Hopper/Joey questions

Hi Navychop, The Harmony remotes we use are strictly IR. I will be able to control one Dish unit (Hopper or Joey) with the Harmony remotes along with everything else at each TV location. This can happen at all 5 locations due my central IR hub. For the second Dish unit (Hopper or Joey), I...

Switching from VIP722k's to Hopper/Joey questions

I will need to run one unit IR and one unit RF due to the fixed remote 1 address in both the Hopper and the Joey. For the RF unit, I will still use the harmony to start everything up and run everything when not on dish. Just use the Dish RF remote for Dish.

Switching from VIP722k's to Hopper/Joey questions

Hi Hipkat, I was hoping that you would weigh in. Good to hear that I could do the install in case Dish comes up with a large install cost. I prefer to not have them checking out my setup anyway. The 8 remotes feature does not fix the IR issue as the Address 1 thing still lives on. It does...

Switching from VIP722k's to Hopper/Joey questions

Long time reader, rare poster here. After almost 8 years with our 2 x Vip722K setup, It may be time to update. We are happy with the functionality with 2 satellite and 2 OTA tuners per unit. However, our 722’s have started doing strange things and I wonder how long these have to go even if...

    Joey 4k IR addresses

Thanks for the info. I can work around that by making the family room system a self-contained IR system. I'll use RF for one joey and ir for the other, requiring 2 remotes at 2 of the locations. I think I will wait on the change because: 1. The vip722k's are working fine and we have only a...

    Joey 4k IR addresses

Hi, I currently have 2 VIP722k's with OTA (8 total tuners) and plan to eventually switch to a Hopper 3 plus 2 Joey 4Ks. The Hopper would serve the main (family room TV). Each Joey would serve three sets and there will be overlap such that a set may have access to both Joey 1 and Joey 2. I...
